We all live in a modern age that surrounds itself with technology, whether it be a computer, television or an IPod. If technological addiction was a disease, it would have wiped all of humanity out years ago.  This modern, fast paced world that we all live in requires the use of multiple types of technology on an everyday basis in some form or another. This fact poses the question that states, if technology was taken away
from us would we be able to cope without it. For me, this question involving technological dependence is already answered. I know that if I am caught without my iPod or phone, it feels like the world has been turned upside down. It almost feels like a part of myself is missing. Of course, I can manage without it if I have to, but it feels more comfortable when I can surf the web or check twitter, instead of awkwardly looking around the room to avoid staring at the floor for an hour. Please, tell me how you feel about this topic.

This question is hard for me to answer to be honest. I am Autistic but I am verbal. However I prefer to use technology to communicate such as social media. I think sometimes technology has gone to far. Call me a conspirator but I believe that technology will be used for the New World Order to be involved in people's lives. I have teachers that think that due to technology students are forgetting how to write cursive. I know I am a bad speller, but one of my teacher friends said they got an essay written in texting language. I also think that sometimes technology keeps us from learning about nature. So technology has helped us but in some areas it might be hindering us.

Y'know I've heard the whole "technology is destroying humanity" argument so many times, and honestly I think it's bull.

Yes, addiction to phones can be annoying, and yes, teenage girls and boys who can't pull their faces away from screens really suck. But honestly people don't focus on the positives that technology brings.

I mean, technological advancement has completely revolutionized communication, satellite technology, data management, etc.

Not to mention the era of connected video game experience that technology has brought! Thousands of people around the world are able to connect and socialize with one another. Ultimately I've got to believe that the positive effects of technology outweigh the negatives, and therefore dependence on technology isn't holding us back, but instead pushing us forward.

Not really sure if that's really a bad thing but yes. I wouldn't say we're too depndant on technology but we are very dependant on. Chances are all this isn't going to go away any time soon and it's only going to get better. So if we are too dependant on technology it's not really a bad thing for now. However if we all lose our aboloty to get a hold of technollogy then we would most likely be in trouble. This is just one of those questions that are just hard to answer. I'll put it simply. Without technolgy we would be in a lot of trouble. But with it it may be enabling us but as of now that's not really a bad thing.

Yes we are but that isn't a bad thing. I don't think we have gone too far yet. Social Media is a great way of communication in my opinion. Also look at all the medical equipment we have now and all of the amazing gadgets we have as well.

Yes, we are. It could be good, or it could be bad. We could become upgraded into cyborg-type beings, but that's still a bit away. (Not too long though, we've made some huge advancements in robotic/human)

We have become too dependent. I mean, before if you wanted the news, you had to go out and buy a newspaper. Right now you can see the news of China while seeing funny cat videos. The new technology is making all other things obsolete, even might make humans obsolete. Like the humans from Wall-e.

I don't wanna be a Wall-e fat guy

Society as a whole is too dependent on technology, but that is how it works. Also, technology does not only encompass electronics, but also other pieces of our daily lives such as methods of performing work more efficiently, or even different types of medicine. It seems what you are referencing though, is a dependence on computers, so I will base my thoughts off of that. Yes, our society is too dependent on technology. I personally spend almost all of my day after school on some form of computer. Whether that be my droid, my laptop, my Vita, my PS3, anything. I spend far too much time on all of them. It is becoming a real problem. I am not the only one who is living like this. There are even people who are not involved in video games, and they too spend too much time on things such as their phones. I know a bunch of people who just look at their phones all day, totally oblivious to the world around them. Eventually, this dependence, is going to kill us off. Or, at the very least, cause a bunch of problems in the future. Having everyone extremely dependent on high-tech resources is not a good thing. While it may help stimulate the economy and what-not, it is definitely a long-term negative. What happens when we start running out of the resources to produce the products? What happens when we can no longer provide the energy to support the function of these devices? People will go insane. Anarchy will likely become rampant. That is, assuming, that we continue on this downwards spiral. Of course, our technology is also helpful in many ways, but it puts a burden on our future.
