Here you can tell me what the best incarnation was in your opinion and what your favourite is.
Hello cyber family and I'm back with yet another thread. This thread will be about what is your favourite incarnation of the ninja turtles.
Mine was the 2003 TV series I mean it was based a lot more on the comics being dark and sometimes gritty.the story was exciting with some unexpected moments which I will not spoil. What are your favourites and what do you think is the best the best I think is also the 2003 series. some of my other favourites are
The 1990 movie
the 1993 movie
the 2007 movie
the 1987 TV series

I do remember thinking the '03 Series was pretty good when I saw it, but I didn't see much of it. So my favorite will have to be the 1987 series. I have the complete series on DVD now! lol Though childish and corny it still had some great story lines and good moments of humor. Not to mention James Avery as Shredder.

One thing I have to mention is my LEAST favorite must be the newest incarnation of TMNT. It's almost upsetting what Nickelodeon is doing to it , in my opinion. What they call an 'art style' may look OK, but I really just see it as an incomplete story board. I mean they could say they did the animation like that on purpose but I almost don't believe them. It just looks unfinished.
It's cool that Rob Paulson is back as a voice for one of the turtles , but from the theme song and pitiful attempt to bring a lot of the 1987 elements into it, it just seems like a bad reincarnation of that older series. Sorry to drag on like this, but it's just upsetting to see the direction they took. It's not an absolutely terrible show, I just don't like way too many of the elements in it. Not to mention it's even more childish than the '87 series and they've REALLY made Mikey look stupid.

danielbelitch : I am also a big fan of the 1987 turtles. But I don't think the new turtles suck. Yes there are some downsides. Like Mikey being Superstupid. And donnatello becoming cliche. But i think the action is good and i really enjoy the storyline. and im not upset because nickelodeon made it. even though they are a channel that goes down hill every year. That just shows we all have opinions about our favourite mutants.. thanks for the reply

I guess the original holds a special place for me since I grew up with it.

The newest series just doesn't seem the same, like it is trying to cash in on the old fans but makes it "extreme" to try to get a new audience.

This isn't the correct forum for this though....moving it.

Try to read the whole batch if you can! It is sort of a parody on the things it became later. I ofcourse grew up on the first two movies and the animated series (that was Hero Turtles on the toy boxes) and the toys... To read the original stuff later in my teens was a real eye opener!

The first TMNT movie was just about the best movie I can ever remember.  I was so absorbed into it that I would have bet money the movie was only a half-hour long when obviously it was a full feature film.  I first got into TMNT at a Seller Brothers grocery store that had the arcade game (you know the one we all thought should have been the first TMNT Nes title).  Me and my cousin would literally walk the neighborhood collecting cans to sell at the recycle station right across the street from the grocery store with our favorite arcade game and then go spend all the money we earned collecting cans to play a couple of rounds.  Then the first NES TMNT came out and it wasn't like the arcade at all and I thought it sucked so bad.  Then they came out with TMNT Arcade for NES and bought my loyalty for life.  So that led into me watching the cartoon series, it was alway a bit out there for me though, but then a full motion picture of the turtles.  OMG Raphael cussed in the first couple of minutes (oh man, memories that make a person).  The first TMNT movie was the stuff and the second one wasn't bad either.  After that either I was too old to enjoy it or the quality went downhill but I will never forget seeing TMNT in theaters the first time, one of my best memories ever.       Turtle Power

I also think that the 2003 series was the best version of TMNT. The jokes weren't as corny as in the original 80s series, and (as you said) it was darker in tone because it was based more on the original comics. I know there's a new series out now (of which I've watched a little more than half of season 1), but the 2003 series will always be my favourite one.

Heh, I used to watch all those shows.... how 'bout Nickelodeon's recent tmnt show? I think that's the best so far, I forget though how long it's been running; I think it was just 2013, or maybe 2013-2014.

I would definitely have to say that the 2003 iteration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the best. I pretty much grew up with that show. My friend Josh introduced me to it when I was 6 (maybe 7) and from then on I watched it as much as I could. Unfortunately, it was rarely on when I was actually given time to watch TV, so I would always try to get over to his house to watch it, hehe. Going along with the 2003 TV series, my friend also introduced me to the first game (following the 2003 series) that was released in 2003 as well, and I got my parents to get it for me as soon as possible for my PS2. Now though, I can't even stand the direction Nickelodeon is taking the brand/series in, and will probably stay far away from any future iterations that Nickelodeon decides to release.

imamonster : I know I am late to the party but I took a long vacation. I grew up with the 80's cartoon series so it always holds a special place in my heart. The 3 Turtle movies in the early 90's were pretty good, although Vanilla Ice.... yeah... enough said. Don't believe I saw the 2003 series(if I did, it didn't pique my interest or I didn't like it due to my memories of the 80's series) as I must have been watching something else or was too busy at the time since I was in High School. That and my favorite series in recent history(Code Lyoko) started around that time.

DH110985 : I see, The 80's cartoon is also really entertaining and I watched a episode yesterday. I'm rewatching the entire 1987 series. If you can check out the TMNT from 2003  do it! it's really awesome imo

I grew up with the 1980/90's cartoon, so that incarnation will always have a special place in my heart. The original comic's were pretty awesome too, unfortunately I only have a couple of issues. Other than that, I actually really liked the first movie. I remember being so excited to see it when it came out. I still love TMNT, but everything in the past decade or so hasn't been of interest to me really.

tRIUNE : I'm actually shocked to hear someone say that. I agree with you on it, but it's practically considered sacrilege to say you like the newest version of anything around here. lol

So yeah, the newest one is easily the best in my opinion.
