Hello there,

Well, as the question is, what is a gamer type? Well, I'll explain.

Gamer type is the personality of the gamer.? Like, what kind of games you play, how you chose games, and what you look for in a game.

RPG Gamers,
RPG Gamers usually like story, and intriguing gameplay. They usually like strategy? and puzzles, along with good characters and atmosphere.
They don't usually play online games as much,? not liking to be dependent on others for their game experience.
These gamers tend to chose titles such as : Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Skyrim, and other titles like that.

Hardcore Gamers,
These usually tend to play more action based games, that are dependent on graphics and gameplay to carry them through the game.
They usually like to play Solo and Multiplayer. They like feeling the sense of achievement, by progressing through a campaign series and unlocking more achievements.? They don't usually dwell on one game for long, once the newest thing is out, it's in the past.
They play titles such as: Call of Duty, Halo, Skyrim, and other such titles.

MMO Gamers,
Gamers who get immersed in one game,? like advancing and playing for long periods of time. To them, Story isn't a big deal, Action isn't a big deal, just how many monsters they've slain, castles they've raided, and what level they are. They usually like building up their players, collecting rare items, and having big houses.? They get very involved in their player groups or factions and make valuable friends.
They play games like: World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft, and, World of Warcraft.

Mobile Gamers,
These are people who pop green pigs, run from angry monkeys, build empires, crush candy,
plant crops, and all those things you do while your in the bathroom and have a smartphone with you...
They don't usually care about what they are playing, just as long as it entertains them until their food arrives, or it's their turn in line.
They play games like: Angry Birds, Temple Run, Candy Crush, Flappy Bird, and Clash of Clans.

So, VOTE!!! ? What type are you?!

Personally, I'm a big fan of RPGs, with a real soft spot for old school RPGs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, and Ultima.  I play a lot of games, from a lot of genres, but the old RPGs are what I always find myself coming back to.

I play most every kind of game, with particular interest in couch co-op games, but the RPGs are always the staple of my gaming.  And newer RPGs like Fallout 3 and Skyrim see a lot of play as well.  I've probably beat the old classics like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior dozens of times, and newer titles like Fallout 3 have seen 4 playthroughs, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion have seen two playthroughs, etc.

To be honest, I enjoy any game that has a good story that I can get swept up in!

The only kind of game that I DONT play somewhat regularly is MMO's.  I just cant bring myself to pay a monthly fee to play a game.  I figure that I already paid for the game to own it, I shouldnt have to pay to play something that I already own.

I'd say I am a mix of all of them except hardcore. I love to play MMOs and I've always loved a good bit of RPGs.
Also, Super Mario Bros doesn't belong in the RPGs category.

I like some mobile games but I don't see whats so fun about Flappy Bird and Angry Birds. It's repetitive and boring.

~Pikachi~ : Well, thats great! A well rounded gamer!  You're right, SMB is not an RPG, but some of the games in the series are.

I enjoy playing any type of game. I really enjoy a great game with a great story that I can get lost in. I wish I had more time to play fallout 3..that game is a time sucker for sure.

Welp. I misclicked and hit RPG, but really I'm a huge MMO guy. I play WoW, GW2, Tera Online, DC Universe, and I'd go on but uhhh the list is kinda endless. As annoying as 12-year old kids are online, getting into guilds and getting to know your fellow gamers is pretty cool.

Definitely RPG, if there aint an interesting story then what's the point of playing? Granted I do play some games that literally have no story (Minecraft, Terria, Bloons TD) but that's because there unique, and I enjoy them. I prefer games like Skyrim, Dragons Dogma, and even Borerlands and Resident Evil. I'm actually a bit surprised at the last two because there both shooters and I tend not to like shooters, but there story's and characters (especially Borderlands characters) are interesting.

tornadocam : You would go under RPG gamer. I originally called it 'Nintendo Gamer' as most of Nintendo's games fit under that category.

You make hardcore gamers sound like they are all 10 year olds.
But I am kind of a boomerang.
I play all the games and if I like it, I come back later and replay it. Also multiplayer adds replayability. Like DayZ, TF2, StarCraft, Minecraft or Warframe.

Quhark : You caught me, I should not portray "Hardcore gamers" as all Immature ten year olds. I mean that MOST of them are people who think they are mature by saying the f word every 2 seconds, when really people like that are immature. The word, 'mature', does not mean what it used to. Now it refers to usually sexual things, or profanity.  Mature is supposed to mean: of or relating to a condition of full development.
Now it is used as:  Inappropriate content.

NVTaks : I would agree on your MMO points, and truthfully in that sense I feel like (at least since losing City of Heroes) I am not totally intrigued by any one MMO anymore. I have probably cycled through five different ones, at least. I'm trying Aion now; it's alright, but it just isn't the same.
For that reason, my best response is actually RPG. I do like to feel a sense of game growth and achievements are nice, but the story is what it's about. I find that in skipping too much story I get bored easily, which is why I don't usually enjoy playing in teams and what keeps me from saying MMO.

I would have to say RPG gamer.  I love the RPGs from SNES and Playstation 1 era.  The long story and wonderful character development.

I used to be an MMORPG person but lately I can't find an MMORPG that keeps my interest.  Most of them can't even be played on this computer.  So I'm keeping with just being an RPG gamer.

I'm more of a mix of RPG and hardcore. Although I do like games with great stories, I also love action packed games. I still like the traditional JRPG games though, but I like it better if the game is action packed(real time), story-driven and mixed with strategy like the Zelda games, YS and FF7: Crisis Core (psp). There are also other turn based games that I love even though I don't usually prefer turn based like Valkyria Chronicles, Persona games, yu gi oh, Jeanne de Arc, Disgaea and many many more. I guess they're just too awesome to make me don't mind that they're turn based.

Hardcore player

Even a casual game I try to go all out. It's in my nature to be competitive and show everyone who is better. I may not always be the best but I at least try.

I am going to say that I am more of an RPG gamer. This is because in certain games, the story is what can either make or break the game and I like all the little details that some developers put into these types of games.

I really feel as if there should have been an option for hybrid/mixed gamer types. Generally speaking, I'm pretty much a mix of all of them, if you take bits and pieces from each. I am an action gamer, and love to play action-based games that are frantic and fast-paced, but I don't buy a new game simply because it's the newest game out, nor do I move on from games rapidly. I am an RPG gamer as I do play a large number of RPG games, and I tend to stay more towards the singleplayer experience, unless we're taking local co-op into consideration. I also enjoy a good story; if a game has a strong story, but makes a few missteps, I can (probably) forgive. I am also a big MMO person, I feel as if the games are fun to play, and leveling up with your friends is enjoyable. When it comes to getting rare items though, I'm not really big on that as it would simply take too much time. I remember trying to obtain rare items in WoW when I used to play it, and simply wasted countless hours trying to obtain one specific item. It just wasn't worth it, and I stopped trying to get the rarest items after a while. Well, all right, I guess I'm not so into mobile games, unless you want to include handheld consoles, in which case, I'm all for them.

I suppose I'm a mix of all of them except mobile gamer.

I love games that have a story that you can really immerse yourself into and play for hours and repeatedly. I really enjoy action packed games, but I can't really get into them if they don't have some kind of story. Beautiful graphics and environments are definitely a bonus for me. I don't mind playing online, it just depends on who I'm playing with. And I do like feeling like I accomplished something by the end of a game and I'll replay it again and again to unlock more achievements if I really liked the game.
