IgorBird122 : Feel free to add anything else to this.
This thread will likely be subject to have things added onto in the future as we see any other issues that arise.
It is important that before you make any guides/walkthroughs for games, you read this thread. If you post a guide or walkthrough that does not follow the guidelines outlined in this thread, they will be moved out of this forum, and all of your CP and Viz will be revoked.
Rule 1
No plagiarism. Guides and walkthroughs here must be your own work. That means:
No copy/pasting from another site
No simply reading through another person's walkthrough and saying the same thing, only reworded
No taking sections from multiple existing guides and walkthroughs and putting them together like your own Frankenstein's Monster Guide.
Rule 2
Guides and walkthroughs must be a minimum of 400 words. This really is not that much considering you are supposed to be doing guides or walkthroughs for an entire game, not just part of one. Even when the games are short, 400 words is being very generous. Guides are supposed to be helpful, therefore, descriptive. If you are being descriptive in your guides, it would be difficult to be under 400 words. You would have to try really hard to do that.
Rule 3
Use proper grammar. As stated before, guides and walkthroughs are meant to be helpful. A guide or walkthrough is the opposite of helpful if the reader can't even understand what the heck you are trying to say. So make sure that your grammar is correct. Use spell check. Do NOT use shorthand text talk. Be at least moderately articulate. If it is decided that your guide or walkthrough does not make sense due to bad grammar, your earnings will be revoked, and the thread might be trashed.
Rule 4
This is one I know is going to get some people mad, particularly during CP VCS months. You can NOT split your guides and walkthroughs into separate parts. If you are making a guide for a game, you can't have a part 1, part 2, part 3, etc. Your ENTIRE walkthrough or guide must all be kept together in one thread. Here is the reason for this rule. Vizzed is a forum. Like many forums, there is not really a way for users to make sure their threads are displayed together. The order of the threads displayed are determined by which ones get recent replies. The problem with that when it comes to guides is this. If you have someone reading part 1 of your guide, finishes it, and needs to move to part 2, they now have to go into the guide forum and search around for the other parts of your guide. If part 1 got a reply a few days ago, part 2 got a reply 5 months ago, part 3 got replies 2 months ago, etc. then it is going to be difficult to search around the forum for the right parts of your guide/walkthrough. Again, guides and walkthroughs are meant to be helpful. It is not helpful if people have to spend time searching for the different parts of your guide/walkthrough. It also makes our forum look very disorganized and sloppy when the same guide is found in various spots. So you have to keep it all together in one thread.
You might be upset and have the following argument. "What if the game is super long and I can't type it all out in one sitting?"
Solution #1 - You can type out the whole guide/walthrough on your computer, and then transfer it to a thread when you are finished.
Solution #2 - You can type out as much as you can whenever you can, and simply edit your original post to keep adding until you are done.
Typically, the ones who do this most often are the ones who are just trying to get as much CP out of their guides as possible. But this is not the purpose of making guides. Guides and walkthroughs should be made with the intent of genuinely adding to the site and helping others with games. They shouldn't be made just to boost CP. Starting today, all guides and walkthroughs that are made split into parts will be revoked. No exceptions.
Update as of 6/10/2014 (made by The IB): since Davideo7 isn't doing CP VCS competition anymore (to focus more on TdV) and a whole lot of users sending IgorBird122 or the Local Mods about this, we figure that the rules needed change a little bit, we will allow you to make multiple parts in a walkthough, that is only if you "Link" all of those walkthroughs together, and this will only be allowed during non-TdV months (every months but January, April, July, and October), and it's still not allowed for TdV months (January, April, July, and October), failure to do so could result in your post being ignored.
Updated as of 1/25/2015 (made by The IB): With a the limit of 999 CPs per post, that can cut a walkthrough short, especially with giant walkthroughs, so during TV months (January, April, July, and October), walkthroughs can be allowed to be split up depending on how much content you have and you must also have to permission from either IgorBird122, Vanelan, Global+, or any other Game Guide mods in the future to split up your walkthrough during TdV, only if you know that it will go above the 999 CP limit per post. Posting split walkthroughs without the mod's permission will result in a post ignore and revoking.
Update as of 4/10/2015 (made by The IB): Letting you know, splitting without permission was mostly related to splitting in separated threads and didn't say anything about posts, well, after a few reports from a couple of users about a certain walkthorugh, we decided that as of this point, you can't be able to split the walkthrough in separated posts, but you can separated them in separated threads with permission from the Game Guides mods (mentioned above).
-These are on hold until the staff further discuss on the actions with splitting-
If you have any questions, do not ask the RGR Staff. This decision was made by the mods of this forum, IgorBird122 and I. So direct all questions, concerns, comments to us. IgorBird122 : Feel free to add anything else to this.
