My first one was the Game Boy Advanced I think I was 19 when I got it. I had wanted to get a game boy for a long time. But I could not due the classic and color Game Boys being hard for me to see. The Game Boy Advance had a light which made it easy for me to see.

We had family systems but the first handheld console that was personally mine was a Gameboy Pocket. It was the clear one & I really enjoyed it. I wish they still made clear systems like that.

The first handheld I personally owned I think was a blue Game Gear. The second I believe was a Game Com and than finally I got a Game Boy Pocket years later.

Most of my Game Boy gaming took place on a Super Gameboy (the attachment for the Super Nintendo which allowed you to play Game Boy games on it) because I didn't have a Game Boy at the time so I experienced games like 'Pokemon Blue' and 'The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening' on the Super Game Boy, which actually made the experience so much better.

The first handheld console I ever owned was the very first game boy. The big clunky one. I actually still have one and games for it. Surprisingly it still works too. I have had every Nintendo hand held since.

The first handheld console I've ever played was the Game Boy Color, my parents have got me that for Christmas back in 2000 (I was 7 at the time) and it was a nice handheld which lasted me for quite awhile.

My first handheld was a Game Boy Colour. It was actually my sister's, but she gave it to me when i was three. I have fond memories of playing Tetris and Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets on it. I still have it, and sometimes i bring it out to relive old memories.

I already posted in this thread stating that my first handheld console was the original Gameboy.  While that is true I also had a handheld football game where your team was dashes and the opponents were X's.  I played the heck outta that game but don't know if it counts as a console as it only played the one game, but it was a handheld and it lead to me getting into games period so I thought I should mention it.

I was 3 years old and on Christmas 2003, my aunt gave me my first Black Game Boy Advance SP and she also got Super Mario Bros. 3/ Super Mario Advance 4 with it. Ever since, I have been hooked on video games and being the nerd I am today, so to that, I thank my aunt. The Game Boy Advance SP lasted until 2011, when it finally wouldn't turn on anymore, so I got another one that I eventually gave to a friend who never experienced the world of Nintendo.

My first was the Gameboy Color. I got it just about as soon as it came out. The first games I got for it was Pokemon Red I believe then I got some Gameboy Color games for it. The only ones I really remember are the Pokemon games. I am not a fan of the console now but when I was a kid it was really cool. I can say that the Gameboy Color is tough as nails! I threw that thing around the house all the time and it lasted a very long time.

The original game boy. The black and white one because i am old school lol.
Well, actually it wasn't really mine because my parents bought it for my older sister but i pretty much took it over lol.
The first one i technically owned was a gameboy color. But i still would say the game boy black and white was my first one because i played it way more than my sister did. Plus she basically gave it to me without saying she did. If that makes sense. lol

The first portable system I played was actually were I played my first video game! Some relatives of mine gave me a Silver GBA SP when they were done with it. I was only given Super Mario Advance 3 with it and no charger. Eventually, it ran out of battery and 2 months later my parents finally gave me a charger thinking it was a waste of money (....lol)!I think this was around the age of 5 but I'm not exactly sure :/ . I still actually have it !

First handheld console? it is gameboy color when I was 4 years-old, but I remember that my mom told me I played it gameboy earlier back to when I was less than 3 years old, and that gameboy was my sister's and she refused to allow me to play until my parents told her to give it to me.
But they said that after I got it from my sister, I spent a few minutes with it then went to the kitchen, then took a fork then I smashed the gameboy screen with it.

I honestly don't remember any of that nor why I did that in the first place, what I do know that my sister was about to kill at that time.

I think I was 11 years old and it was a DS lite. It was my only handheld until about two years ago when I upgraded to a 3DS, but I gave that DS lite a lot of love. I still have it because although the 3DS is backwards compatible, Spirit Tracks is easier to play on the lite because of the dumb microphone location in the 3DS XL. One of my favorite games of all time, Dragon Quest IX, was on that DS lite.
