Basically, I'm informing y'all of a debate between Ken Ham (a Creationist) and Bill Nye (not a Creationist). It goes from 7-9:30pm (I believe Eastern Time, but I'm not sure). Pre-debate thoughts?

I just hope Bill Nye knows what he's getting into... Bill Nye deals with facts, empirical evidence, and reality, whereas Ken Ham has made a living off of peddling fiction and myths. Ken is well practiced at avoiding questions, ignoring facts and evidence by answering questions with questions, and interrupting his intellectual opponents. If anyone has ever debated a creationist, they know how incredibly pointless it is.

It's not really going to be an actual debate, it's going to be Bill Nye refuting creationist claims with science, and Ken ham changing the subject.

Creationists like Ham don't give a jot about reason, falsification, or furthering humanity's knowledge of the world; I doubt he even knows what the scientific method is, much less how it functions. Ham has no intellectual integrity, no interest in truth. He is perfectly willing to lie, connive, and ignore the facts if he thinks it will make the world a more suitable place for his particular brand of Young-Earth Creationism.

Nye wants to encourage children to think. Ham wants to encourage children to get their ideas from him. I expect to see Nye repeatedly lay out evidence for evolution, only to have Ham ignore it and wave a Bible around dramatically.

He makes money off of indoctrinating children with information we KNOW is false(he has displays in his museum showing humans and dinosaurs living together), he is a snake oil salesman.

I just disagree that it's going to be a good debate. I've seen dozens of creationist/evolution debates, including the dozens I've partaken in, and they're all the same. It's simply an endless trudging through half-truths, obfuscations and straw men arguments. It's NEVER an actual discussion of science. Though it would would be a pleasant surprise if it was.
