I don't think they're evil. They just have a strong will to survive, just like anyone else. However, that doesn't mean they're not poisonous, and that's scary enough for me. (Not evil, though; just defensive and intimidating so it's easy to see them as evil.)

No I don't think they're evil.I work with snakes loads of them and they're all fine. I think they are misunderstood creatures. they're just one of those phobia animals. 

My opinion is that bible is just a book that weak people read to give them spirit to go one, because they need some higher power to wake up everyday in this hard world. So no, snakes aren't evil, people are more evil than some reptiles living in the wilds. This is just my opinion so no need to get mad. Free will and so on. PEACE.

No. Snakes are in no way evil. They are only trying to survive. Are Dolphins evil for eating the fish that they need to keep living? Are Okapis evil for looking different? Of course not! If one decides to come out and attack you it's probably because you either got too close to it and it was defending itself or it's just following the natural order and trying to get its next meal.

I dont think it was the snake that tricked man kind. Although to use the coin of phrase i think the concerned individual was something of a snake. Take from that what you will.

On a somewhat different context however, im not fond of them due to the fact that, despite being popular pets, they would happily eat you if they got the chance. I'm a dog kind of guy.

Your mom is being a little too literal. It was Satan in the form of a snake, not an actual snake. I don't think snakes are evil, I think they are really cool!

Snakes aren't really evil in my view, but they are used as a symbol of evil on a regular basis, how about Satan in Christian beliefs? Or how about Orochi in some Japanese beliefs who is the evil 7 headed serpent king/ god. (Fun fact: It's where Orochimaru from Naruto gets his name. "Maru" was simply added for semi-obvious reasons, not to mention the "Susano-oh/ Susano'o who is the warrior sun god.) Or even a personal favorite character of mine from BlazBlue, Yuki Terumi or "Hazama" whose major symbol is the "evil" Ouroboros which is the eternal serpent that eats itself for eternity. Again, another evil snake symbol that reoccurs all the time. I think civilization has turned snakes into a symbol for evil over the years and it is really understandable, I mean snakes are wild beasts, difficult to tame and almost always very dangerous. Add natural fear to the equation and it does make perfect sense.

All of that being said I don't really see anything as "Good" or "evil" nothing is really perfect in any way, nothing is perfectly evil, nothing is perfectly good, it's just not the way it works if you look at it in the same way I do.

I'm not really going to say that snakes are "evil" because no living thing are evil, ok, yeah, I do have to say, some snakes can be a little deadly though, but also, you have to realized they can be used for good as well, like getting rid of any unwanted rodents (lie mice and rats).
To my point of view, I do in a way, do like snakes, but if it's at a point it might possibly attack me, then yeah, I might kill it for self-defense, but other than that, I don't see them as "evil"

All my mom taught about snakes was that they are timid creatures and when you walk in the woods, they can hear you and they go away if you make enough noise. (this works on vipers at least) Plus you should always wear boots in a forrest just in case you accidentally happen upon one and scare him.

Why is this such a discussed topic? Snakes do have the capacity to be damned or be evil. They do not have "character" to judge, even if they essentially reproduce by what is essentially an orgy. They're just animals. Animals do not have any spiritual part. They cannot can float around happy in heaven or be subjected to hell. They cannot be immoral, nor can they be moral.

Snakes can only be called "good" or "bad" in three meanings. First, how good are they at being a snake? Second, are they doing what you want them to? And finally, would the world be better with or without snakes?

The first question is obvious: all snakes act like snakes. That's they only thing they can do. The second question has nothing really to do with the snake, but more about if they're being cool or eating the rat or whatever. The third question is much more applicable.

If all snakes were to magically disappear from the world, the things they eat would have population surges. Multiple insect types, certain birds and fish, and of course, rodents, would all swarm. A small balancing effect would occur because other species food populations of just boomed. More birds (and probably feral cats) would take the place of the less snakes. So, instead of snakes, we just have lots of insects, birds, fat stray cats, tiny fish we don't want, and lots of rats running around.

Snakes are beneficial for multiple things. Snakes are good.

Let's start with that no animal is evil. Animal do things according to their instincts. Do you really think that a snake can decide one day "alright, I'll go to this city and kill people"? Of course not, because animals are not evil or can even think about something like that. Snakes attack people who threats them, you can easily threat them just by getting too close. Otherwise, they won't attack you. Unless they want to eat you but the chance you'll encounter a snake that big is really low. And even then, hunting someone and eating him is not evil, we do it to animals as well don't we?

I don't think snakes are evil. Though they can harm humans, they don't know any better. Its instinct. They need food? They have to hunt. Snakes may scare me, but I'd be the first to admit that they aren't evil creatures.

Snakes are just like any other animal; they'll do whatever is needed to survive.



 

Most tales of evil animals are usually religious stories, myths from some country or old wives' tales.
Most answers state that a snake could not think to be evil. A single snake could behave foully, but that's not a feature of the species itself.
