I choose cats because mainly, I have one and it doesn't bark like crazy like dogs do obviously. Cats are very cool to have anytime and they are soft and warm and very small. They usually don't destroy everything but they can do bad things.

That is pretty much why I like cats more than any other pet.

I like most pets, but I've always loved birds for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I love cats and dogs too, but I just love birds because they're different from most other pets. Some of them can learn to talk, which I'm pretty sure no other pet can do. Right now, I have two crazy budgies (also called parakeets) and they're quite the characters. I used to have goldfish when I was younger too, but I sort of gave up on having them when they kept dying on me. I guess I just got tired of them constantly dying, so I've had birds for almost 9 years now (one of my budgies is going to be 9 on April 8th).

   I prefer canines, considering everywhere I visit, I commonly notice them. Also, they are much more playful and active then any other type of pet and are able to comprehend what you tell them to do much more. Unfortunately, you would not be able to comprehend the majority of what they attempt to explain to you, well, you are unable to do that with nearly any animal. Haha!

I am a huge fan of dogs. I have one and it was the only pet I have had since hamsters and fish. They seem to be the most intelligent apart from the fact my dog growls at pictures of itself and they really do interact and obey you if you train them properly. 
I have never really been a fan of cats. They just never seem to be with you they go off on their own adventures else where I think they are the only animal that you can let free roaming. 
I kinda want a parrot too. They seem like a really cool pet to have however they smell according to my mum but I just think she is trying to put me off the idea!

Dogs, without a doubt. I can't stand the shedding but they're by far the most friendly and playful. Cats seem to only scratch and hide and parrots smell.

My vote went to cats. My cats have always been really sweet and cuddly...except TJ. He's a little evil, but lovable nonetheless. I just find cats to be really great little companions.

Cats are the best.  I have both cats and dogs and cats out do dogs in so many ways.

Cats go to the bathroom on their own.
They can open doors to go where they want.
They don't attack  you (Well at least all the cats I have had which has been 13)
They are smart enough to get food and or water if you can't provide for them.
Their cuddles are calm and soothing they don't jump up and down on you and lick you all over....
Also cats come back home if they get out.  Dogs will just keep running....

Now I am basing off of having 13 cats in my life and 4 dogs in my life.  So this is just my view by observation.
