Today I have seen Catching Fire (part 2 from the trilogy the Hunger Games, for those who don't know) with my sister, it was very cool. We have read the books so we understood it, but there were a few people saying things like: 'What's a morfling'? Or 'What a lame ending' while it was a cliff hanger! Also, I've got a cold and at some point where it got emotional I had to sniffle but there was sitting a girl next to me and she looked at me like: 'Is he crying?' so that was a bit like .

Who saw it too? And if you did, what do you think of it?
In our opinion (me and my sister) it was very cool and better than part one, but in my opinion

*SPOILER WARNING*

the part in the arena was a bit too short compared to the book.

I saw it recently as well, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the movie. While it wasn't as close to the book as many people would prefer, you can't please everyone. They covered most, if not all, of the main events in the arena; I can't particularly complain there.

Everything about the movie melded together well, in my opinion. The first Hunger Games movie was good, but this one stole the spotlight. The writing, the events that happened, etc. Everything flowed together, and each part was very well made.

Cool, I agree with you. I think I'd give it the same rating as you since most parts were covered.
I am wondering how much the film cost because with all the effects and things like the party in the presidential house it seems like a lot of money to me.

According to this article (http://www.blastr.com/2013-10-31/whoa-catching-fire-cost-how-much-more-hunger-games), it cost approx. $130 million. Of course, it made about $307.7 million (globally) in it's first weekend.

Too much to spend on a movie, imo. However, it made more than double what they spent in it's first weekend. That's gotta count for something.

Thanks! Holy cow, that's a hecka lot of money! But since they got the double amount back, I guess it's not that bad to spend so much money.

I haven't read the books but I've seen both movies. I have to say, I liked the first one better. I thought it opened the viewer up to a futuristic and twisted world. The second one was still good but it was obvious that the writer is building towards something

The first one could have remained the only one forever and it would still feel complete. Without the first, third and fourth movie, Catching Fire would be incoherent.

I will say that I could not have done a better job writing, directing, producing or acting in it. So imo, my opinion has little value. I feel the same way about the opinions of professional movie critics.

I've wanted to bring this up, the movies look horrible. I liked the books, but the movies weren't good in my opinion. The movies are nowhere NEAR the books. I know some will disagree with me, and I'm expecting a lot of you to, but the movies are just dreadfully horrible.

And I am entitled to my opinion

thephantombrain : Although I liked the second film more, I have to agree with you that it was obvious that part two was made to build up to part three. I think the first movie itself could've been a complete story too.

PixelBrick : Why do you think the movies look horrible? From my point, most things are pretty much the same as in the books, so I'm curious why you hate them.

Lipun.tripathi@y: You too? Well I can't say your opinion is bad because everybody else has his own opinion, but could you tell why?

Nope! I haven't seen it yet sense I haven't had the money for it! I rarely ever get to go to the movies and if I do it's once in a blue moon. I loved the Hunger Games first movie I just never really got into the books! I can't wait until I get to watch Catching Fire.. which will probably be in the far future.

I saw it once and I really liked it. I never read any of the books, so I could not really follow what was going on, but I still kind of liked the story and I really liked the acting and effects.

Bintsy : You won't regret watching the movie! I hope you see it soon.

zanderlex : Cool, I should read the books because you might miss some interesting details if you only watch the movie.

No, I haven't seen Catching Fire yet, but I'm hoping to. My friends have watched it, and are constantly encouraging me to see it. Apparently, it's a great movie. I can't wait to see it! I already know one scene which I think is genius, but I'm not going to post it because of spoilers.

juuldude : I saw this and it was one of the greatest movies I have ever saw in my life. This was exciting and not too violent at all.  The end the main character is like you son of a ***** which was pretty strange to say in a movie rated PG 13 but I still liked it overall.

Two words: Just Great.

I saw the movie last Saturday and i loved it. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that it ended so suddenly and now I have to wait for the next movie I didn't read the book so I have no idea what is going to happen.

NintendoFanKimmy : You won't regret watching it! Many scenes are great in my opinion the ones with Caesar Flickerman are very funny or interesting.

Black Bot : Yup, Katniss wasn't happy but you can't say her she can't.

Barathemos : Yeah, this is a big cliffhanger with lots of questions remaining. But book 3 is amazing and is maybe better than part 1 and part 2 together in my opinion.
