Deocder: http://transl8it.com/

az teknoloG muvs forward, it changes d way we communicate. DIS iz Nuttin nu. RitN wrd hz Bin rownd 4 roughly 6 thou years, GIV o tAk a centRe o two. d Xchang of ideas ax vast geographies iz much quicker thN n d past. d pony express & tLegrams R a tng of d past. wot bout books?

English again.

Odd...the number two up above stayed written out but the words "for" and "to" got changed to number symbols....

Are emoticons modern hieroglyphics?

Can the above be considered a form of pidgin English on experimental drugs?

Anyways. Is the above really more efficient for communication? I suppose it is for the person typing. However I can type pretty fast to begin with. But with different styles of keyboards it may be easier and less frustrating to take shortcuts. But what about the person recieving the message? Isn't it important that the other person receives a coherent message that doesn't require a special decoder? Unless you ares you are a spy. Then code away. Personally, I don't like it. And I think I wandered off topic.

My 2 cents. hav a gud dA

Well, already many schools have switched to teaching with iPads and other technologies, and now I feel the newer generations of children are now more active with technology and use it more often.

I hope not! If books become obsolete, I don't want to live in this world anymore. I am an extreme bibliophile for sure, and I don't know what I'd do if they took my stories away from me. I mean, I also want to be an author, so there goes my dream job, just like that! XD (I literally cried when Borders went out of business. It was my dream to have my stories on those shelves. Now I have to settle for Barnes and Noble!)
Actually though, I know people use more technology now, but there are lots of people as obsessed with books as I am so I'm sure they'll remain for a long time yet. Textbooks, however, I could see becoming obsolete within the next ten years, easily. I already have some online textbooks. The real thing is too heavy!

PokefanKala : Whats wrong with Barnes and Noble? I have a book there, but yeah, I would miss reading and writing. You could still write ebooks, but I guess it wont be the same.

They might become obsolete eventually but that is most likely a long way from now. Also buying books online would not be the same at all.

yes. I mean, with all of the electronics, they will take over the world. I mean, all these new electronics are going to take over generation by generation until no paper books are left.

They somehow have already. Should I have a history class, I don't think I would buy the book since everything can be found online now. Ditto for mathematics; calculus hasn't changed much since Newton.

Yes, and perhaps sooner than what we had thought. I carry more school textbooks on my iPad than I carry in my backpack. I also write with my stylus much more than I do with paper and pen. With cheaper textbooks and smaller devices, surely it won't be long till paper books are just memorabilia.

Yes I do believe it will. They keep coming out with so much technology and inventions that I believe that it's going to shock a lot of us with what they come out with in the future especially concerning books.

Based on what I know, a few schools across the country is starting to use iPads and Kindles for the classrooms, well, I hate to sound like an old person, but I think having traditional books is way better than having digital books, because the reason why I say this, it's because they're a whole lot more interesting content to look at rather than looking at one thing, plus you might have people goofing off with it by looking at other content in the iPad and Kindles.

So, even know I don't have a whole lot of books, but still, I don't think it should obsolete, I say, let them continue using the traditional books.

My school is starting to use iPads for textbooks next year, and we will be keeping all the books till we know it will work. We have taken a step to this.

Well books are apart of our history as human beings. It is where we first stored our knowledge. It might become less used but never obselete. As long as I am around anyway. I will still read them.  I like reading books because it just makes me feel all cozy inside.  I wish some stories here on vizzed like that of Dragonlord Stehpi or Pokefankayla or NintendofanKimmy could be turned into books for our generation to enjoy.

I definitely hope not! There is nothing like reading a good book. Sure, you can read anything online, but it can't beat the classic feeling of holding a book in your hands. Also, it's better for your eyes. If it was to study in school, though, I would prefer an e-book .
I thought long and hard
