I've recently been watching it online (I do have the DVD since I live in england) ....
Its pretty good in my opinion....I mean sure it's a ' little ' weird at times but I love it and I wish they made more episodes....

I actually watched like 3 1/2 out of the 5 episodes online. I enjoyed it but I wish they actually did a journey and an actual show on it instead of skipping around like in the next episode RED randomly won 2 other badges. I liked the style that was used and being an anime fan it was really exciting seeing the artwork for it as well.

On YouTube, I saw the whole three-episode beginning, The Legend of Thunder ! It wasn't that bad in my opinion, but I still prefer the original series with Ash and co. (I honestly don't know what's wrong with me XD).
