What video game company do you think is overrated? 

The video game company I think is overrated is.... Nintendo. While they do make some great games, I get sick of hearing them getting praised for everything, even when they don't deserve it. Even when Nintendo makes a mediocre sequel like Mario Galaxy 2 which is the same thing as the first with a few new levels. People worship it, and say its the "best." Before you start a riot, I want you to know that I like Nintendo. They make good games, but they are not the gods of gaming that deserve 1st place in top 10s, and fanboy fits when someone says otherwise. Heck even the Virtual Boy gets praise because it was just "a mistake," oh really, then why is the 32X criticized? That was a mistake too, and it has more games. 

This thread maybe controversial, especially with my opinion above, but I would like to hear what company you think is overrated.  

Hmmm... you may be right.
Nowadays more people focus on the xbox's and the playstations but Nintendo still is popular. It's true that even simple remakes of them are praised, but that's because Nintendo knows how to make them look good. For example, new super mario bros 2 is pretty much a mix of new super mario bros and new super mario bros wii, but because Nintendo came up with a few new things (gold flower for example) it still looks pretty good. 

So I share your opinion too, they're a bit too overpraised.

Lets see my list of overrated companies:
1st: Blizzard
2nd: Rockstar games
3rd: Ubisoft
This is MY list because whatever they do people will like them.

Quhark : I totally agree with you, I think Blizzard games are overrated, same with Rockstar games like Grand Theft Auto.

G@mehe@d : Well I think it is Halo the Halo company says it is M but you fight aliens witch is different than people like call of duty.

I think Nintendo is overrated. They made some bad games from the past and now they make more good games and then some bad games.

For me, Microsoft is over rated. Everybody loves it and buys their products, when really, they're inferior to other companies like Nintendo or Sony.

The UI is poor and scattered with advertisments, even though it costs 60 dollars a year to use.

They don't even need to charge that much for it. Sony, the only other company to feature a premium service like that, offers users $600+ worth of downloadable games, and an automatic cloud saving and game/firmware updating service for 10 dollars less than their competitor. Though Microsoft tried to compete with that, in the end, it pails in comparison.

Microsoft's consoles offer a less powerful console than the PS3 and PS4, and though they have a hella comfortable controller, it's taken down by the expensiveness of the console, which for some reason, people see no problem with. The consoles, even newer models, have a high chance of breaking or failing compared to a Wii/Wii U, or a PS3.


Microsoft barely has any first party games, but the ones they have are half assed, or show potential. Other than those games, you can get them on every other system. They have far less games than Nintendo or Sony, yet people think Microsoft is a better company.

They are also the only company to not have their own portable console. Though that isn't a big deal, fans of their games would probably love to play them on the go.

Plus, all that stuff at E3, even though they retracted it, the 24 hour internet checks, no more used games, and all of that other stuff is still in their contracts, meaning that it could come back.

I own an Xbox. I enjoy playing with my friends on it, but in the end, it isn't the best, or even tied for second.

I'm sticking to Sony and Nintendo with games, but I'm likely buying an Xbox One when it becomes smaller, and costs around 200 dollars less.

alexanyways : I agree. Microsoft is very over rated. I am inspired by Bill Gates, and I'm impressed by Microsoft's following, but...again, they release broken consoles on day one. Discouraging.

Microsoft. Definitely. Microsoft is the worst of the three that are out right now, yet it is the most popular. I have an Xbox 360, a PS3, and a Wii. The Xbox 360 is the most popular, and the one that I like the least.

I think that Microsoft is the one that is most over rated. I think that the games are over rated and I think that the systems are too expensive. I don't think that Sony is over rated because it is actually good.

I find Sony greatly overrated. They're games and consoles excellent, but not THAT excellent. If you ask me, Nintendo (new-school) is underrated .
