Welcome to Type overview,in this series, that will be oh so very rare,i will be looking at the history and the progression of the Pokemon types ,and the moves in general,i will see how they stacked up in the past and how they stack up now,so lets get this started

Introduction to the Type
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Ah the Electric types, this is actually my favorite Pokemon type of all time, these guys are known for hitting hard, but not being able to back it up with bulk, prime example

Pikachu

Yeah you guys remember this one,the mascot of the Franchise, and the original electric type, this Pokemon is known for being able to dish out ALOT of damage if used correctly, but not being able to take alot of hits at all,but like i said these guys cannot take alot of damage,so they make up for it in speed and power,Christ, even the Competitive community has taken notice of this guy,and its moved up in the tier list, now there are a few Electric types that can take a few hits with little to no trouble, such as...

Electrive
Magnezone
And a few others

The electric types are also known for there hard hitting moves, such as...

Thunderbolt
Thunder
Volt switch

But hey enough of me talking, well...typing,lets get this over with.

Gen 1
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
The electric types, unlike some other types, had a decent start, they got 6 at the start?

Pikachu
Magnemite
Electabuzz
Voltorb
Zapdos
Jolteon

These guys are pretty good Pikachu was a decent Pokemon, and was actually very effective if trained right, plus you could get a raichu, magnemite was very bad, near terrible really, but his redemption is coming soon, electabuzz was pretty good, and i actually used to go after him in the old days of red and blue, voltorb was not really my cup of tea, zapdos was incredibly powerful, and i used it all the time, and Jolteon was literally just a better version of Pikachu

Now we have the Original moves of Electric types

Thunder
Thunder wave
Thunderbolt
Thunder punch
Thunder shock

These moves are fairly Powerful, thunder was incredible, but as some of you may know...i prefer accuracy over power,Thunder wave was good for crippling some Pokemon, thunderbolt was my favorite move,it was deadly and unlike thunder,Accurate,Thunder Punch was a bitt of a let down for me,but it was decent, and thunder shock was basically just weak,

All in all these guys had a decent start, and were in fact one of the 3 best types in the original games, but that was about to change in gen 2....
Gen 2
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

The Pokemon we have now is...

Chinchou
Pichu
Mareep
Elekid
Raikou

Yeah these guys got a bit of a nerf, for those who don't know the electric types were a bit..overpowered in gen 1,even more than the dragon types...well dragon type i should say,so Nintendo and gamefreak decided to nerf them a bit,and it shows,Chinchou was a fairly unique and a fun edition, but really it was just weak, pichu is just Pointless really,in fact i never really understood why baby Pokemon exist in the first place,Elekid...well even though it was weak,i will admit it was very useful to have Electabuzz handed right over to you,Mareep and Raikou are the only notable Pokemon here,Mareeps final form is extremely useful even today,And raikou is very Powerful, now lets look at some moves

Zap cannon
Spark

Ah,like i said, the electric types were dumbed down a bit,but to be fair both of these are pretty decent moves, and they are still effective now...well at least zap cannon is

Gen 3
............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Alright its gen 3 and the Hardcore and casual fanbase is pissed because the electrics are dumbed down, and To be fair Nintendo tried to please them, but did it work,or did they just throw more gasoline in the fire?

Electrike
plusle
Minum

Yeah They didn't do a freaking thing, they just made it worse by rehashing the same crap we already have, another Raikou, but in a different form, and another pichu in a different form,to be fair though Electrike is decent,as for the other 2...ugh

Charge
Shock wave
Volt tackle

Those are all the new moves in gen 3...and they hold up pretty well, for the most part, charge is near useless, but shock wave is good, and volt tackle is excellent

Overall gen 3 really sucked, and did nothing but drag this type down into the grave even more, but on the up side,it did introduce volt tackle, the move that is used by ALOT of people, including me...well i am not a part of the competitive community but still..

Gen 4
............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Alright lets see what gen 4 has in store..rhyme...

Shinx
Pachirisu
Electrive
Magnezone
Rotom

Ah,for those who don't know this is the gen when Game freak got smart, they noticed there sales for Pokemon were dropping so they tried to bring some old fans back in,while bringing in some new blood, how would they do this...BY BRINGING BACK OLD POKEMON AND GIVING THEM NEW FORMS,and the best Part is the casuals can't even get the new forms without doing some work, this is the time when game Freak and Nintedo got there A game on,and it shows, shinx and Pachirisu are actually decent additions,Shinx gets an awesome form, and Pachirisu is there for...nothing just looking good really,Now we have the 2 big money grabbers Magnezone and Electrive, for those who don't know, when they Showed gen 4 they made sure to hype these Pokemon up alot, and they deserve to be,plus there pretty good Pokemon in game as well,as for rotom...its..interesting,i am sure its is a good Pokemon, but i guess i just have not cracked the code yet,so it can be a great Pokemon,

As for the moves

Charge beam
Discharge
Magnet rise
Thunder fang

Like i said.,.they got there A game on,all of these moves are completely effective, even magnet rise is,if used correctly,my favorite out of all of them are discharge

Finally The electric types are getting serious again, and are getting determined to take there spot again as one of the best types ever

Gen 5
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Alright, its gen 5,the Pokemon sales have ever so slightly raised, and the Electric types are getting very serious again, but lets see if they can follow it up with another good set of moves and Pokemon

Blitzle
Joltik
Tynamo
Thunderous
Zekrom

Uh...okay...kind of lacking, you guys have a good run going on here, but i don't think there doing there best, blitzle is fairly decent, joltik is CRAP,tynamo has a very good Final Evolution(you can check out my review on that in the furoms),thunderous is one of my favorite Pokemon,i actually use him online, and zekrom is awesome, really this is pretty good but it has a few problems

Lets see what moves you have to offer us now Electric types..lets see

Bolt strike
Electro ball
Volt switch
Electro web
Fusion bolt

Pretty good, alright this is not to bad,not bad at all really, these are fairly good moves, some are even great, and they just sound cool...

Gen 5 had alot to offer, but overall alot of it is lacking, not really bad, just lacking

Gen 6
..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Last gen..until about 2 more years...anyway lets see what this gen has to offer

Helioptile
Heliolisk
Dedenne

....That's it...really?,uh okay, these guys are pretty fun Pokemon to use,but not really that effective

Now lets look at some moves

eerie Impulse
Electric terrain
Electrify
Ion Deluge
magnetic flux
Nuzzle
Parobolic charge

Alright we got some moves here...they all sound like something out of a star trek word jumble, but they are pretty decent,i don't have many if any major gripes with these moves

Really gen 6 is just average, nothing to good, and nothing to great

Final thoughts
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

...This Is so interesting,as some of you might be able to tell, all the Electric types after gen 1 is basically..,well trying to replicate and emulate gen 1,this type never really evolved,no pun intended,it just tried to stay the same and most of the time it suffered for it,every single time it trys's to stay the same it just suffers, much like real Pokemon,if you don't evolve most of the time you fail, overall this type was incredible back in the day,but its lack luster now, really this type is nothing but a fallen king trying to regain his throne,a Lion who lost control of the Pride and all of his mates, just a villain from a Saturday morning cartoon show who is constantly trying to take down the hero, and always fails...
.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Alright that's basically the electric type, and that's type overview, hope you enjoyed because i did,and i think i can do this again, maybe like... once every 1 of 2 weeks, seems simple and its fun

anyway if you liked this thread give it a thumbs up,tell you friends about it,leave a comment, blah blah blah and read my reviews, here is my most recent one

Really cool that you are doing this...I really like it.

You are spot on with everything here...

Gen 1 was the starting point (obviously), and to compare it to other Generations, it certainly is one of the top Generations when it comes to Electric-types...the Generations that actually are full of good Electric-types are just legendaries and OP Pokemon lol...let's keep it fair here.

I would usually always take Thunderbolt over Thunder...Thunderbolt with Calm Mind, and that makes for a killer Gardevoir (Lol), but a Thunderbolt on an Electric-type is a good, very good STAB attack.

Generation 2, yeah, basically Raikou and Mareep...I don't find myself using any Electric-types really, in Generation 2...mostly because I play Crystal lol...no Raikou. You really don't even need an Electric-type to beat the game.

Generation 3 disgusts me...I remember working hard once to get a Manectric...but it isn't great, maybe decent at best. Again, Gardevoir with Thunderbolt (and Calm Mind maybe) is more than adequate in fulfilling the role of an Electric-type.

Now, the later Generations, 4-6, they are just OP...MUCH much better than Generations 1-3...maybe because of a lot of legendaries and OP Pokemon?...who knows...

Nice job.
