I found out when I was very young that I was highly gifted. A lot of people seem to think that "gifted" is just equivalent to "smart," but I have also gone through a lot of the less pleasant effects as well, such as perfectionism, social awkwardness, and peer jealousy. In my advanced language arts class in seventh grade, my teacher remarked that very few students in our class were truly gifted, and that for those of us that were, she felt sorry for them. Are you gifted? What has your experience been?

I actually would not ever really call situations like that as giftedness. There are people who are your average joe's, people a little smarter, and then there are the savants, which are very rare.

I am in a community where a lot of us are smart, or "gifted" as you state. Not in the stereotype of nerdiness, but are just smart and strive to get into good colleges.

I guess I may have been subject to some side-effects...at my old school before I moved to my neighborhood now, lots of "cool" kids loked at me as a nerd...I always got good grades and always did well. Lol, everything was easy, way too easy...those kids just didn't understand back then, so what am I supposed to do with that?

I guess I was stuck in the socially awkward position while there at my old school, but when I moved to my current neighborhood, with excellent schools (#1 High School in Connecticut  ), that social awkward disappeared because being smarter than the average joe was basically normal. Most everyone was in an advanced math class, and those who weren't really weren't that far behind. Sure, there are still a few kids with the "I don't care" mentality, but what can we do?

I've never considered myself as being gifted but rather over averagely normal . I don't have special gifts . I can't spell very well .  I can't work out equations at the speed of light . I cannot speak in nine to ten languages . But I can do something no one else can ... and that is being me .  So for the gifted who are discriminated against for your qualities ... be thankful for if ye be hated by haters then you are hated . And someone can't hate another person for no reason most of the times . Which means they hate you because your special . And the more they hate ... the more you know your special .  Sure hating is wrong but I use it as fuel . What you use it for depends on who you are . So if your gifted ... be gifted and do it to the best of your ability . Have A Nice Day
