This is really annoying. The 3DS application, Swapnote(Letterbox in the UK), has had the spotpass service ended. Apperently Nintendo became aware of consumers not using it appropriately(most likely sending p0rn and bullying), and Nintendo had to end the spotpass feature. This really annoys me, because I have friends that the only way I can communicate with them is with Swapnote. Why did consumers have to do this? Also, I don't think this was the necessary action. I would have rathered they take the photo sharing feature away, or something. I just completely lost communication with 10 people on my friend list. What do you think about this, and how did it affect you?

zelda2 : Sorry to hear about you not being able to communicate with your friends. Actually though, I don't have a 3DS yet... so it doesn't affect me, but I don't think Nintendo should have taken the feature away. Despite the fact that people were using it inappropriately-which tends to happen with just about anything that involves sending messages to others-it was bound to happen anyway. People can just ignore the messages sent to them, or otherwise just not use the feature if they are so worried about it. Like you said, Nintendo could have taken the photo sharing feature away, but that would probably be just as bad, because it's removing a great feature of Swapnote. The best possible solution, I think, would for Nintendo to just let the system go as is, even though some people will send "inappropriate" messages to each other, Nintendo can maximize happiness by not getting rid of it, and not let people down that are using the feature.

I haven't used my 3DS in awhile, but I LOVED swapnote...

Since I'm terrible when it comes to terms and stuff... what does this mean?  Does this mean I can no longer swap notes with my sister-in-law?  O  Please, please tell me this is not so!!!

If my power/cable goes out, Swapnote is the only communication I have with friends. ..besides School anyway.... and my phone.

Singelli : If you use the internet to swap notes with her, then no, it will not let you. If you use streetpass you can still do it.

Singelli : Spotpass is what is used to send notes to registered friends/family from far away via the internet, without it you can only send notes to people who are near you.

This is very, very devastating to me.   I loved swapping little love notes with my sister-in-law... and she lives 4 hours away.    I thought it was SUCH an awesome feature...

Singelli : Somewhere it said they don't plan on adding the feature back for a while.
I don't think that they should have removed this. Parents refuse to set parental controls then get angry when their kids do something wrong.
Kids can still use xbox live, psn, or social networks to show pictures or bully people. And in case you didn't know you can draw in a program called paint on your computer.

so this doesn't really affect me

I don't even fully understand how to use swapnote

I'm sad that feature has gone as well. Most of my friends have Pokemon X and Y now though so I just talk to them through the game chat feature on that.
