I do not really think it counts as a color, it has none of the actual basic colors in it, red, blue or yellow as barathemos said. Therefore, I do not consider it a color. I think it has to do more with visibility and transparency/ saturation over being a color. Like darkness and brightness, or transparency and clearness. That sort of thing. I wouldn't consider it a color, rather just a description for an amount of transparency.
