I am not trying to make fun or disrespect God or anyone who believes in Him(Her?It?).I am just a simple atheist asking a question.
So, the question is simple, if God is omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresent, than why is the world like this? I mean what is his plan? If he can really do anything, than why is there still evil? and the Devil? If he is really omnipotent, than can't he just kill the Devil and Hell all together? What about him destroying all life on earth? That has happened many times in the Bible, Why? Can't he just fix everything? The Bible also seems to say things are evil, generally speaking Homosexuals. Why does it seem to hate them? So, the question is simple, if God is omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresent, than why is the world like this? I mean what is his plan? The answer to your question maybe simple or complicated depending on how you look at it. I'll try to give you as simple of an answer as possible. The reason why the world is like this is because of us. God created the world and God plans what He created to be good, but God is also not a mind controlling puppet master that controls every action of His created beings. He lets people have free will and to choice what they want to follow. Guess what Man decided to choose? To go against God. To sin. The same way with the Devil. The Devil was in a privileged place to be one of God's chief angels, but he was envious and prideful and thinks that he can be better than God and decides to go against God. Again, God gave him free will to choose what he decides to do. So thinking about yourself as well as everyone else: If God were to truly just stick with His justice and punish everything that is evil, then everyone would deserve punishment and deserve hell, including me and you. Why? Because you and I are not good. Not just not good enough to go to heaven, but really really bad. We can never match God's standard of perfection. The Bible talks about mankind "falling short" and "none that does good" and comparing it to God's goodness, if God were to just "fix"everything (in quotations because your definition of fix is to just eliminate evil) then God would need to eliminate us as well, because we ourselves are evil. But God is also a merciful God, and that is why instead of fixing everything and destroying everything, He became a man named Jesus and not only demonstrated what a life of goodness is, but also actually took our punishment that we deserve, and those who wants that gift of second chance will have a clean slate and sin is not in their record. In fact, when people receive Jesus as their Savior, God is actually transforming them to be more and more godly, to move more and more away from sin. And with that, actually brings more glory and honor to God, because God not only is Just by saying that those who are lawbreakers will be punished in the end, but also merciful because God made a way for those to be saved and to start over and not just punishing everyone. That is why it's called Grace. God is offering us a way to be saved. Those who wants to just do what they want and not accept God's forgiveness won't get it, and they will continue to go down a path of their own destruction. If you think about it, you living right now is God's grace to you as well, because He could just kill you right now, but every breath that you breathe is God giving grace to you saying, "it's not too late to go away from sin and come back to me. Please stop rebelling against Me and seek Me. Come back to the good." As for your other question: "The Bible also seems to say things are evil, generally speaking Homosexuals. Why does it seem to hate them?" I actually want to say that this statement is too specific. Homosexuality is just one of the many sins that people commit, and like every other sin, God hates sin. It is against everything that God stands for, which is good. God created sex to be a sacred and beautiful thing between a man and a woman in marriage, but because of sinful nature, it is distorted and different sins relating to sex sprout up and are perverted to God's purpose for it. So there are other sins that distort that purpose as well. Anything that is not good is evil or sinful to God's sight. So thinking about yourself as well as everyone else: If God were to truly just stick with His justice and punish everything that is evil, then everyone would deserve punishment and deserve hell, including me and you. play4fun : Can I copy and paste your answer next time these questions pop up? I really don't want to repeat what's already been said in this great reply, but I just want to re-iterate it. It's that amazing thing called grace (like you said) that is keeping God from judging this world right now. God is immensely patient and we are living in an age of grace, but His judgement for this world is coming very soon. We cannot see tomorrow. You may cross the street in the next few minutes and get hit by a car and die. If you are not right with God, it's too late. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, "Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment..." That's why it's sooo important to get right with God now and not "wait and see". Truthfully, it is probably a good thing that their answers alone don't "make you go Christian." Matthew 13 New International Version (NIV) The Parable of the Sower 13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.” A couple of responses on here would be much like the rocks in the parable: accepting Jesus in a fervor of passion, but not really having taken due time to consider. Following Jesus is like marriage in a lot of ways. It is usually not one particular thing that makes it happen, but it is a series of things over time. Usually people need to be convinced over time that it is the best decision, but then sometimes not. For example, you are walking down the street one day and decide to marry the first good-looking person who says hello. The odds of that being a successful relationship are slim to none, even if they say yes. Again, seed on the rocks. That's part of where I see fault in most denominations, particularly when it comes to thinking anyone can be forced into Christianity, or that theirs is the only one. These are things that only create senseless division and ultimately turn hearts away from seeking a relationship with Jesus. While I agree with the others, I just felt a need to reinforce the idea not to be deceived by "rules" or "musts," exactly the reasons I seek a relationship with Jesus non-denominationally. No one has all of the answers but God; no one ever has but God, and He would never expect anyone to. Last point on marriage (sorry for the roundabout), it's seen as binding or limiting, being less about number one. However, nothing is actually more freeing, allowing us to love more fully, and there is still a number One--it just isn't yourself. When you give your time and energy to another, nothing is more exhilarating and rewarding in the long-run. (PS - As to why God is generally referred to as 'He', with some exception depending on how viewed: there are two reasons that come to mind. First, the most obvious; Jesus came to Earth as a Hebrew man. In that day especially, women had no right to be taken seriously, and nobody would have made an exception; in that sense, it was a strategic move. Also, as with the military, 'He' can be seen as almost a respected gender-neutral title, just like mankind is neutral all-encompassing) Do I expect a conversion out of any of this? No, honestly I don't. I don't have that much confidence in my word's ability. But my hope is that God would use them (and others, like Play4Fun) to help making that decision more informed, and more lasting than feeling moved in a particular way. I pray that if and/or when seeds do reach your heart, they land on fertile soil. Truthfully, it is probably a good thing that their answers alone don't "make you go Christian." huygeb : Can I just say, "Awesomeness deluxe"? Dude, you need to post more often here. You can certainly have more confidence in your word's ability.
maguc : I honestly wish it was that easy for people to read a post about the gospel and make a decision for Christ there and then. Like huygeb said, it's a good thing that our answers alone don't make you a Christian. Only God can transform your heart. It is not up to us. However, the decision lies with you. God will NEVER force His will upon you. That's why He gave us free will. You have to choose. Psalm 34:8 says, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" You have to experience it for yourself. I can tell you this double cream choc ice cream that I'm holding in my hand is sooo creamy and sooo delicious, but you're not going to know how awesome it is until I say, "Here, take a bite. Taste and see!" I can type here all day on how good God is, but you've got to really experience it for yourself to really know. maguc : I honestly wish it was that easy for people to read a post about the gospel and make a decision for Christ there and then. God gave us the free will. So we have to live with it. It is both a blessing and a curse. I am not going to answer to this with some bible quote but I also believe that hell is a shadow of heaven and neither could completely exist without the other in the sense that we see them. Both have their purpose. So we have to live with it. It is both a blessing and a curse.
