For anyone who has an Xbox Live Gold account, you can download Halo 3 for free! The offer is available until the end of the month so be sure to take advantage of it. As long as you download it before the offer expires, you'll get to keep it forever.

For those who don't know, Microsoft gives away 2 free games a month to Gold subscribers. It's similar to Playstation Plus except unlike Playstation Plus, you get to keep the Xbox games even after you cancel your Gold membership.

I plan to play Halo 3 sometime this week and a few more times before the month ends so if anyone is interested in doing some matchmaking with me, feel free to add me to Xbox live. I have been LOVING this 2 free games a month deal since it started. I have been getting whole games downloaded to the point to where I am very backed up. I don't even have time to play through one before I download the next 2. My gaming time is going to be pretty booked for a while. Did they say how long they will be doing this?

rcarter2 : I'm not sure if this is something they plan to do forever if it's just something they'll be doing until the Xbox One comes out, I guess we'll have to see.

I've actually maxed out my hard drive by downloading all of the free games lol, so what I do now is I click to download the games and than cancel it so that way it's in my purchase history and I can always download it later for free even after the offer is over since I already own it by doing that.

Davideo7 : My real life friend and I would definitely like to play Halo 3 with you, and my friend technically is the person who referred me to the site although it doesn't say so officially nor does he post actively at all, but if it's possible he and I would both love to play... Okay maybe, at least I would but I've been pressuring him to get a Halo game and now that 3 is free he may just finally get it. (He has sort of wanted to for a while anyway.) I already have a limited edition of Halo 3 but I am also going to download it because then, I don't have to worry about a cracked disk, I won't run the risk of losing it unless I lose my profile, I won't have to change disks to play it and finally well, why not?

There's one more thing I wanted to bring up while we are on the subject, is it possible for my friend to get a name change? He has only a few posts and pretty much the only person who knows him at all is me because I'm his friend and he's not active on Vizzed.... Yet. (I hope that changes.) The only reason I ask this is because he sort of hates his user name, his younger brother made his account for him for whatever reason while not making his old account, my friend started using it but he doesn't really like the name at all so I wanted to see if I could get him a name change but I never wanted to bring it up without a good reason.

ButteryOctavius : I'm talking about you here, you may also want to read this thread and talk to David here if he says yes. I just hope you see this soon, I mean you started getting back on again but I dunno, you've gotten on and stopped before.

Frodlex : Another reason why a Halo 3 digital copy is better than the physical copy is that I'm pretty sure Halo 3 is a game that can't be installed on your hard drive but a physical copy would be installed so therefore would run better. I think anyway.

Anyways, yeah I'd love to play with you guys sometime. Halo 3 is still my favorite Halo game.

Davideo7 : Awesome, I look forward to it, I truly do, I've had you added for the longest time but we've never once played or even talked other than the occasional text message, as for installing Halo 3, I'm pretty sure I got most of the way through installing it once but because my disk is really badly cracked it didn't finish. (Crack wasn't my fault, I got it that way, I would never treat a disk that poorly.) Also should I have him send you a friend request on Xbox Live? I'll get him to add the whole "I am a member of Vizzed" thing even so he doesn't remove you, but that should make it a little easier for us to all play together.

Thanks for the heads up.  I haven't liked the last couple of free games from Xbox live.  How could you go wrong with some free Halo? Ima download that piece later after I finish streaming this Trailer Park Boys movie.

One of the few times I had a 360 not a PS3, I want a free Halo game! Although I do prefer Reach, all I own is Combat Evolved, maybe a tunneled LAN game of some original Xbox games might be in the future? I here it's not too hard, I already have Combat Evolved and an (unmodded) Xbox, so just have to setup the tunneled LAN game. Just looked it up, a LAN tunneling software (created with Xbox in mind) is XBConnect (http://www.xbconnect.com). All it requires is a PC, Internet connection, and console. Haven't looked at it too much but will look further into it. (If there's anyone out there who has an Xbox and is willing to help me try it out, I'd appreciate it, I don't know anyone with an Xbox to try it with.)

bigger0gamer : I know nothing about the tunneled LAN, does it cost money to do?

 Davideo7: they will only be doing this for another year i think they said but when you have PS3 witch i do , you get 16 free games a month thats mainly why i pay for PSN Plus because to get it you need PS3 (Obivously) and you have to buy PSN Plus ( playstation-plus)

I have seriously bought the game 3 times, the first was stolen, the second was from ebay(scratched and didn't play), the third I bought again then a week later the disk drive broke. I then started downloading games to my HD only then to have the RROD... just in time for me not to be able to actually get the game for free...

Xbox is my sworn enemy...

PokemonGuy : I have Playstation plus too but I don't think it's 16 games and the free games don't seem to change as much lately as they use to.

sloanstar1000 : How long have you had your Xbox 360? It might still be under warranty.

Davideo7 : I've had this xbox since the day they released it, so no, the warranty didn't apply, I already opened it regardless. I'll just have to buy another one now.

sloanstar1000 : They're pretty cheap now days, just make sure to get a cord to transfer your files from your old hard drive to your new hard drive unless you use your old hard drive (but than you'd have to get the old model for it to be compatible and I highly recommend the new model).

What is the co-op like?

Davideo7 : Yes, I bought a transfer cord awhile back, seeing that I figured I'd get a rrod at some point in future, thanks for the tip.

rcarter2 : Halo 3 easily has the best campaign of all the Halo games. My wife and I beat the campaign like 3 or 4 times. The campaign is not only really fun with a great story but you have incentives to play through it more than once to unlock the easter eggs and achievements (for example, looking for the skulls).
