My first console was the beloved Nintendo 64, originally called the Nintendo Ultra 64. I received this gift on Christmas when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I received my first handheld when I was 9 also on Christmas! It was the Nintendo SP.

Yeah I had both a sega genesis and a gameboy advance for my first console and handheld. I wanted to get a N64 but for some reason I never did. Thank god vizzed covers that. Then I got the wii and other cool consoles. 

I also had a gamecube which was sadly given away a few years ago. Hopefully I can buy another one sometime soon because I really enjoyed playing on it. So my first console was a sega genesis followed by my 1st handheld, a gameboy advance which I still have. So those are mine.

The first gaming console that I had growing up was a Sega Genesis back in 93. As for the first handheld, that would be the Virtual Boy. All I remember from the VB were constant headaches for playing the thing.
