Doom (Snes) Walkthrough - Episode 1 Level 1

Starting the Game (choosing the right options)

After you boot up the game, press start and select your difficulty. I suggest selecting Ultra Violent or Nightmare since you can access all 3 episodes. After that you get a choice of episode, select the first one "Knee-Deep in the Dead" since this walkthrough I will be covering that episode.

Level 1 Episode 1

The first thing you want to do is get some armour as you may notice your character has none ( 0% ). If you go on from spawn and take a left turn into a room you will encounter 3 Zombie guards holding shot guns (unless you are in a difficulty lower than Ultra Violent in which case it will be empty), defeat them (I suggest taking their shot guns) and go up the stairs in the center of the room. As you can see at the top of the stairs lies a green chest plate, which when walked over will take you armor to 100%.

Exit the room and take a left from where you were facing. This will take you through a corridor which will end with a door. Open it defeat all of the zombies and take a right turn towards the next room. When entering I suggest exterminating the monsters that fire out fire balls, the monsters are very annoying and deal a lot of damage. Once the area is clear of enemies follow the bridge across avoiding the acid waste. Before entering the next room, not far from the door leading there holds a secret path way. To find this, face the door take a few steps back and turn right. Then press the button which opens doors and the secret will be revealed.

Follow the secret path to find another door, open it and you should find yourself in a desert looking environment. In the middle of the lake of acid waste lies a blue chest plate. Unlike the green chest plate, the blue one will put your armor straight to 200%.
Make your way back through the secret path indoors and go through the door which is labeled "Next Door" in the previous image. Defeat every thing and collect all the items, then open the golden door.

Inside the room you will notice a switch BY ALL MEANS DO NOT PRESS IT YET!! Instead exit the room and make your way back to the bridge. Being inside the room with the golden door triggered a secret room to appear which you should see below where the monsters that shoot fire balls were. Proceed through and collect all of the items, then exit.

Now before finishing the level there is still one more secret to find. This one is pretty hard to get to and requires sprint.
First you need to go back through to the room you would be in before entering the room with the bridge. Do not go too far in since a few steps will drop the elevator. Hold down the sprint button and race towards the other secret room you just revealed. Not far in will be a wedge in the wall (that is if you do it fast enough). Stand in it and as it closes up you will be elevated to another secret. This secret is not very special since the items are pretty basic. Below is the 3 steps you need to take in order to get through the secret in image form.

Finally you can go back through to the room with golden door, and now I will let you press the switch
Congratulations if you follow all the tips right you have finished the level with 100% on all three Enemies, Items and Secrets.

I hope you all enjoyed my Walkthrough, be sure to give any compliments or criticism. Episode 2 will be on its way soon. I am having trouble getting to all the secrets!!

Thank you for this walk through, it is truly helpful.

I was planning on playing Doom later this month, since I am a bit busy, but when I do play, I'll be sure to use this.

Sidewinder : Thank you for the compliments, and for liking the post. It is a shame the first image didn't come out right. I will have to fix that at some point.

I put all this effort in and only got 7 Viz and 0.1 cp

I've read that game guides have to be very long to actually benefit from it. I forgot where though.

I may not be playing the game for this guide, but I do have to say that I enjoy the visuals. For reviews, pictures aren't allowed in them. I'm not sure what the rules are for creating game guides, but the added images you put will definitely help people progress. I just wished that more game guides were like this.
