Posting Format Example:

Generation 1

Bulbasaur

Reason

Because I love Grass type Pokemon and it give more of a challenge to level up compared to Squirtle or Charmander. Plus later on it gains awesome moves.

One thing to remember when posting your reason, never refer to a Pokemon by gender. Always refer to it as exactly that. IT

Happy Posting.

Bulbasaur because he has no weakness in the gyms until the 7th one. I like Charmander and Squirtle too, though.

Cyndaquil because he is awesome. I also like Totodile.

Torchic because Blaziken is my favorite Pokémon. I love the moves Sky Uppercut and Blaze Kick and he has an extremely high attack stat. I also like Mudkip, but I hate Treecko.

Turtwig because Torterra is amazing. I also like Piplup and Chimchar.

I don't like Generation 5.

Charmander - The outcome of choosing the "hard" path is awesome! You cannot argue that Charizard is not worth it Squirtle is great too, my second choice. Bulbasuar, ehh...he doesn't really help you out when you need it the most, especially against the strongest gym leaders of Kanto...

Cyndaquil - Fire Pokémon are hard to come by in this Gen...sure there are some fire Pokémon, but are not better than Typhlosion. I would pick Totodile as a close second, and I rather choose the two interchangeably.

Mudkip - Swampert is a beast during the end game...sure, he may not be the best of use in the E4, being used only for Drake really, but during the game, he is really usefull. Torchic is a fine choice as well...but I choose Mudkip at least 90% of the time.

Chimchar - Infernape is a glass canon...amazing sweeper, but with horrid defenses. I can easily make up for that by having a solid wall or support Pokémon on my team to help out Infernape.

In my opinion, all 3 starters in Gen V are the worst. Snivy has an amazing dream world ability, but it is not out yet, so other than that, they all are kinda bust for me.

Gen VI, we all have to wait and see how they play out in X and Y.

These are pretty elementary reasons, so they are not in depth, but this is just the total sweep of my selections.

I like to pick Bulbasaur because it learns great moves, and it is one of my favorite types (how can you ignore that face ) The other two are good.

I can go with all three because they are all fine (I usually have Meganium as my only tank even though it doesn't learn good moves)

I like Mudkip because it has a great type and I usually avoid the fire types >.<

I don't like the Hoenn region very much :/

I pick either Snivy or Oshuwott (I really like how they look in their final forms) and I don't like Tepig a lot.

I don't think I am getting 6th Gen :/

I bet you can guess what types I like

Okay, My turn.

Gen 1: Bulbasaur

Why: Duel element early on in the game. Twice as many weaknesses and resistances.

Gen 2: Chikorita

Why: Learns Razor Leaf early on in the game as opposed to Cydaquil or Totodile: Smoke Screen and Rage

Gen 3: Mudkip

Why: Okay, i said i love Grass, but this HAS to be the best Starter for this Gen. 2nd would be Torchic. Only because the two have duel elements.

Gen 4: Havent Played

Why: Because i dont have a DS.

Gen 5: Havnt Played

Why: Because i dont have a DS.

Gen 6: Havnt Played

Why: Because i dont have a DS.

Gen 1: Charmander. I have to say that I am maybe one of those stereotypical fans who just loves Charizard. In the anime Charizard was just so awesome and I hated Ash because he was such a incompetent trainer even now in later seasons. He literally goes from terrible to decent to "Wow did he really just win" and new region starts and he is terrible again. But in game I actually enjoyed using Charizard the most. Blastoise just was not my type of main team Pokemon. And to be honest I really never liked using Grass type starters. I just usually have a slot for a status grass type which makes the team unbalanced to have another grass type Pokemon. I loved in later versions like Fire Red when Charizard had a much bigger and diverse move pool which made it even better.

Gen 2: Though I tend to use Typlosion the most I actually had the most fun with Feraligatr. The low point of Crystal, Silver, and Gold was finding an HM slave which you pretty much needed before being able to go to Cinnawood City. Feraligatr took care of the needing to catch a water type and train it to evolve to teach it surf. So it was a little bit of a time saver in that situation which as a gamer does help a lot especially the not needing to grind. Though I have seen its stats and they are actually not as good as Typlosion because of my battling style so that is why I never really use Feraligatr anymore as a starter in games.

Gen 3: To be honest this generation was the first time I was happy with using all of the starters in game. I think it had to do with the larger variety of Pokemon you could catch for a main team which also guaranteed a powerhouse team with no repeat typing. All 3 of the starters I enjoyed using and it was never really difficult either because again you could pretty much make a powerful team of 6 without type matching in this region and all 3 starters were unique and useful for the most part. (Though I prefer Blaziken and I just like Swampert because its sprite looks amazing and the water/ground is just really fun and convenient.

Gen 4: Absolutely loved Torterra. It is just a bulky and powerful Pokemon with an awesome grass/ground combo. Most of my friends preferred using Piplup because of the Water/Steel with a Flying move pool also thrown in. Infernape is a great final evolution for a starter Pokemon but to be honest Fire/Fighting always seems to have weaknesses in battle that you really do not want and sometimes do not expect which makes it harder to get through games. Also when I have a fighting type I almost always want to make sure its only a fighting type and it has a diverse movepool which you can not really obtain with Infernape as much as you would like.

Gen 5: Never got the chance to play through a Gen 5 game so I really should not make any comments concerning this region. Though I will say that many of the powerful Pokemon in this region makes this region the only region where you need to grind an incredible amount to obtain a full team of final evolution Pokemon which personally I do not like at all. I mean grinding to levels 45-55 is just insane especially for more than 1 team member!

I tend to favor water types, although I'm not too fond of Totodile. When I was little, I always picked Chikorita on Gold and my sister would pick Cyndaquil on Silver. On my HeartGold, I also picked Cyndaquil. My favorite starter from each generation: Mudkip > Piplup > Squirtle > Cyndaquil > 5th Gen starter

I'm not really a fan of Gen 5. I've used Oshawott and Tepig. Oshawott was alright, but I hated using Tepig. It's awful.

Kanto - Charmander. Charizard is highly useful in-game, being able to learn fly. Also, Charizard is one of the strongest out of all the Kanto Pokemon.

Johto - Totodile. Feraligatr is a very solid Pokémon, with a great typing and movepool. Waterfall is useful on it as an attacking move, not just an HM.

Hoenn - Mudkip. Both its evolutions are very bulky and have a fantastic typing, leaving them with only one weakness. Plus, Swampert is very powerful and learns great moves such as Earthquake, Ice Beam, and Surf. Torchic is also a good choice, due to Blaziken being a beast.

Sinnoh - Chimchar. Infernape is a supremely powerful Pokémon, boasting fantastic speed, attack, and special attack. It is an amazing mixed attacker, with a great movepool to back its stats up.

Unova - The starters in this region stink. The best out of them would be Oshawott, seeing as Samurott has decent offenses, a good movepool, and acceptable speed. Plus, it can make good use of the ever - useful Surf.

Kalos - I chose Froakie. Greninja is extremely fast and has above average offensive stats, with a nice movepool. And if you happen to get a Froakie with its hidden ability through the Friend Safari, you have a monster on your hands.

I pick all the grass starters except Chikorita and Snivy I pick grass starters because grass is my favourite type and they always work for me . I do not pick Chikorita or Snivy because they look girly to me . I like the manly looking pokemon . And the do not look many to me at all . If I do not pick a grass type then I pick either the water or fire depending on the way I fell .

Kanto- Bulbasaur. I always liked bulbasuar mainly because it has some pretty nice moves and unlike squirtle and charmander this Pokemon (bulbasaur) Doesn't actually have any weaknesses to any gyms until it reaches cinnabar.

Jhoto- Totodile. Basically I thought totodile was the best water type Pokemon I've seen when I was young.

Hoenn- Mudkip. I don't really need to explain why I like this one .

Sinnoh- Piplup. I thought Piplup evolutions were awesome, it also learn some pretty decent moves as well.

Unova- I've never played Pokemon Black or White before so I can't really chose but if I did play it my favorite starter is Snivy.

Kalos- I've never played Pokemon X and Y yet but I do like froakie.

As you can see I didn't pick any fire starters for some reason.

For me, that would be:

-Kanto~ Squirtle/Bulbasaur. They are equally perfect in my opinion. That's all I want to say.

-Johto~ Chikorita. It's so cute! There really aren't much GOOD grass types in Johto, and such, this little guy is there to help. Oh, have I said it's cute?

-Hoenn~ Torchic. Torchic, for obvious reasons. The originality, the actual good fire fighting type. + He has a sweet move pool.

-Sinnoh~ Turtwig. Come on! A little turtle who grows a continent on his back when he evolves! That's just so cool.

-Unova~ Tepig. The only negative thing I can say is the unoriginality of it's typing. It is an absolute beast.

-Kalos~ Fennekin. I think something about Greninja's design is lacking, and Chesnaught doesn't appeal to me. Delphox though, is great. The only bad thing about it is that it will be harder to put all these great fire types in Kalos on my team

Kanto -  Charmander. Fire is one of my favorite types, and though the gym leaders ealr on can be challenging, the bug Pokemon in Viridian Forest are good training for a fire type. Also, it evolves into one of my favorite Pokemon, Charizard.

Johto - Cyndaquil. Like I said, I like the fire type, and in this game you can train fire Pokemon quite effectively early on at Bell Tower.

Hoenn - Treecko. I don't really have much of a reason for picking Treecko other than that I like it's design.

Sinnoh - Turtwig. Like with Treecko, I like Turtwig's design best of these ones, and the same goes for his evolutions.

I haven't played any of the games past generation four.

Generation 1:
Squirtle
Reason:
Squirtle reminds me so much of me, always happy, always playful, and using their shells to protect themselves. Now, I don't have a shell but hear me out. When I was young, I was always being bullied. I felt sad and lonely, I had friends who were Pokémon geeks, but that just made the bullies target us even more. They tried to break us, not physically, but made fun of us for liking Pokémon. "Pokémon's gay" and "you're stupid" spurted out of their mouths many times, and we just stood there disgusted. Except me. I ran away. Ran away from life, to play my Pokémon Diamond games (okay, I was six when fourth generation games came out). I decided to play my cousin's old FireRed game. I picked Squirtle because he was cute. Now that I'm older, I found some connections between me and Squirtle. Squirtle always looked happy, cute, playful... only when he's out of his shell.... Squirtle had used his shell as an asset, to protect him. I was so very happy, playing..... Squirtle then evolved into Wartortle. Wartortle looked confident. He looked happy... Wartortle, was a good Pokémon to my team. But he also inspired me... Wartortle inspired me.. Wartortle was an inspiration to me to become confident. He was confident so why not me, so, Wartortle inspired me so much. Then Blastoise, oh Blastoise. We was very good at attacking... Blastoise was a very good asset to my team. He inspired me so much as well. He was tough..... Blastoise helped me become strong, he let me think clearly. Instead of running, I stayed and laughed at the bullies' comments. I was happy. He stopped bullying me, so I was so.... Happy.
Generation 2:
Cyndaquil... Got no time, gotta go right now, Grovyle's evolving!

r/b- bulbasaur!! they was strong against the first two gyms and i guess that's all my 4-8 year old self cared about... but I also really like squirtle!! they're really cute.
g/s/c-i can't say that i really like any of these starters that much... i'd choose totodile tho!! he's the second cutest (besides chikorita but chikorita is hella lame and they suck)
r/s/e-i'm stuck between torchic and treecko tbh. torchic's are totally super cute and treecko's are really cool?? like super cool looking
d/p/p-piplup. chimchar and turtwig are hella ugly
b/w-can i choose none bc all of them are lame
x/y-all of their evolutions are pretty lame, but lil chespin is so cute!! also i'd have to admit chestnaught is really cool!!

sorry like all i care about is looks i'm lame

Generarion 1

Charmander. Reason: It evolves into one of my favorite Pokemon of all time.

Generation 2

Chikorita. Reason: It is my first and favorite Pokemon of all time.

Generation 3

Torchic. Reason: It is adorable, and I like Blaziken more than Swampert and Sceptile.

Generation 4

Piplup. Reason: It is just so cute ^^!

Generation 5

Snivy. Reason: When my sister and I were sharing Black, she wanted Tepig, and I wanted Oshawott. So we chose Snivy, and since then, I have grown to like it the best.

Generation 6

Chespin. It is the most underrated, so I support it.
