Yes I was very shocked. The first time I ever played a game with Samus in it was Super Smash Bros. Melee. I always wondered why Samus was in the girl event. Then I got SSB Brawl, and found out she was a girl. It really shocked me.

Looking at the armor gives a big clue, the chest plate is out much further out than the Master Chiefs, so you would suspect there might be some breasts (using the word breast so it does not sound too bad ) pushing it out a little. Also the whole general armor is not very masculine in shape, not just the chest plate...

I still think she is an awesome character and I do not think any less of her because she is a girl. But I kind of knew as well because the armor gives it away, the figure, the thigh area and the chest area suited as a breast plate. Also it varies from the suits of master chiefs, you can tell by the chest piece. So I kind of knew I guess you could say. But nevertheless, I think she is still an amazing character, her suit is awesome and I think she has a very great series of her own.

I did not get the shock of finding out Samus was a girl. The first Metroid game I played was Metroid: Zero Mission, and in the beginning cut scene it shows her eyes through her visor. I could tell they were the eyes of a girl. Since then it never surprised me that Samus was a girl because I got introduced to her as being a girl.
