I have and I'm pretty okay at it.. I'm not good enough to get close to record times but I'd say I'm faster than the average player at least... so has anyone else simply tried to beat the game as fast as possible.. And if so.. What do you find the most difficult stage to speed run?

I can get through the first Zone easily and in quick succession (though I keep accidentally unlocking the bonus stages which wastes too much time!) the second holds me up for a little while and getting a clean run of the level where you are in the chemical waste for half the time. That level is also very time consuming if you fail the smallest of jumps usually meaning you have to go back at least 30 seconds back in the level (though the music is amazing and that keeps me going!).

When it come to the next zone I feel the need to give up! The levels are rather hard for a start and completing them in a rather fast time is rage worth. That is the point where I gave up on the speed run. It was just too hard for me, though that may be because I am just too used to Super Mario!!

I'd say the hardest zones to speedrun are Metropolis Zone, due to all the traps and annoying obstacles and Death Egg, due to the fact of not having any rings and dying implies starting the Act all over again.

You know, now that you mention it, I have played this game tons of times yet I have never tried to do a speed run on it.

That is really weird. I am good at this game too yet I have never given this a shot. I will definitely try it though.

I have tried speed running Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and the hardest stage has to be Metropolis Zone because it is so long, so repetitive, and I have to have a map of it and look down quickly to find where I am before I get hit by a Slicer.
