This topic has multiple angles. Some of it may have been discussed before, so I apologise if I repeat stuff that has already been mentioned. As a Christian, worship is not limited to the songs that we sing in church. Our whole lives should be worship unto God. Whatever we say, think or do should be a true reflection of Christ and should glorify Him, but this thread is specifically focused on songs and singing to the Lord in church. So to start off with: - What (kind of) songs do you sing at church? (2 or 3 examples would do)
- How many songs do you normally sing at church?
- What is the flow of your worship? In other words, do you start off with really joyful, "alive" songs and then tone down to really slow, deep worship songs or is it a random mix of songs / hymns?
- This one is probably a bit personal and you don't have to answer this if you don't want to or you can answer it in part, but do you enjoy worship or is there something or someone that irritates you during the singing? It can be an instrument, a person or the songs itself!? The reason I'm asking this, is that for me personally, who stand in front and lead the worship, it can be quite disheartened (frustrating is not the right word here) to see people have a look of doomsday on their faces when we sing to God. The irony is, I used to be like that. Just mouthing off the words and going through the motions, not really focusing on what I am singing / saying and Who I am singing to. In a way it can be understandable, because people worship God in their own way as long as it is in spirit and in truth. It is the way God made each of us. Some like lifting up their hands spontaneously while praising the Lord, while others stand still, eyes closed. Personally I also feel that jumping around, waving your hands and shouting during worship is basically saying, "Hey look at me!" and can be very distracting to others truly trying to focus on the worship. We should not draw attention to ourselves during worship. God should be the focus and He should get the glory, not us.
So basically, how do you find / experience the whole worship "event" in your church? This topic has multiple angles.
