Back in the days of high school (about 8 years ago...dang am I really that old? lol) I played football and was part of the ROTC program. So you could argue that everybody on the football team and everybody in ROTC was my friend, because those were the only people I hung out with. I probably had something like 100+/- friends or so. And, 8 years later, I still keep in touch with most of them.

I'd say I have about 30 friends at school, they are good friends, they aren't like jerks or friends that are just there. They are true friends.  I hang out with about 5 or 6 at lunch and I talk to the rest of them divided between my 8 classes in 2 days. I don't really have any friends on my bus because they are all immature idiots and I don't talk to them. So that is why I am really quiet on the bus in the mornings. 

I would hate to be home schooled because you would be alone with no one to talk to. But I'd say I have a good 30-35 friends at my school. They are either cool friends, smart friends I talk with and have classes with, or they are just friends I have known for a long time and I am always talking to. Other than that, the majority of kids at my school are immature, childish jerks.

I currently only have 5 friends and only 2 hang out with me a lot and they are all from my recently close down school. I can't complain as I can't be bothered to make new friends and out of 100+ children that already attended the school before me I can only bother with 3 of them.

In school I have 4 people I can sort of consider friends. Everyone else is just a friendly acquaintance.
Only one of those friends is a true friend, though. One of the other ones happens to share a lot of interests with me so I chat with him a lot, and the other two are pretty much the only ones who talk to me at all in class.
In all honesty though, I think 4 is a good amount for me. I wouldn't know what to do if I had 10+ friends in real life like so many here seem to have!
