Wow. That is literally pointless because on the original 3DS you can use Parental Controls to restrict the 3D or you can just turn it off by pushing the slider thingy down all the way.. I love the new design but I still think it's stupid.

Sadly it is not a joke my friend. If i'm not mistaken though I did see a thread...possibly yesterday? About this same exact thing. The last thing I mainly remember is that this 2DS is going out onto the market for the younger generation since there have been reports from Nintendo that the 3D from the 3DS were hurting children's vision to a degree. So this is a small compromise for the most part and at a cheaper price for younger kids instead of having parents pay the full amount for the 3DS. Do lots of people see it as a joke? Well of course, even I to a point see it so but it is also a good business ploy to get new customers in on the DS train.

I do not think launching an item like this is a bad thing.
If people do not like it?
They can choose to buy something else.
Plus the Compatibility with the first D.S. Games is a good idea too. (Save the parents some cash bro.)

I'll admit that I would have loved a complete Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Color, compatibilty as well. Like an all in one machine.
But
I am not the target audience in this case.

Like I said on the previous thread on the topic.
This is good news for consumers. (So Far.)

I may not need it but it is a solid option for parents who can afford to give children handheld video games.

I do not see the problem with such a device.

It saves money. It disables the 3D which some parents refused to buy the system because it would "ruin yer eyes" (AKA they're too cheap) This system basically throws all of those excuses out the window. Get some 3DS games.

It looks like a awkward Ds as a ipad but went horribly wrong. It's the poor person 3ds. I hope in the future Nintendo would change the design  to the 3ds but without the 3d.
