Here's an article http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/22/ben-affleck-batman/ but basically he's playing Batman in the Man Of Steel Sequel and I assume that he's going to play him in the "Justice League" movie that is going to be made in the next few years.

I wouldn't have thought of him as a first choice, but who knows maybe he will surprise me.

I know a lot of people are raging about it though...

Eh, he wouldn't have been my first choice. I've been sitting here thinking about what it is that doesn't fit. It's his voice. I can see the whole billionaire playboy thing no problem, but the pitch of his voice is too high or not deep enough to strike fear into the hearts of criminals.  The press release announcing the news says that Affleck’s Batman will be “an entirely new incarnation of the character.” AWW, don't mess with it!!

This is only my opinion. After all, I'm the guy that's still hoping that in 10-20 years Michael Keaton will reprise his Batman and do the screen adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. FRANK MILLER YOU ARE AWESOME!

Another movie I've been hoping for is Conan - The King starring Schwarzenegger but that will probably never happen either...

I wouldn't have thought of him to play Batman!! Going from Christian Bale to Ben Affleck is like playing a new handled gaming system - light weight, powerful, better appearance and more performance- then playing an old game boy - heavy, slow, simple and sluggish. 

Can't really make any judgement about it at the time. The fact that they are 'making a new incarnation of the character' does not sound good to me. But you never know. Maybe he actually will surprise us. Maybe not.

Just based off his typical persona from other movies he has been in, it would kind of like having a country star sing in the style of 80's rock. Nothing wrong with either one, but it just wouldn't really work trying to switch them around. No problems with Affleck, just don't see his persona giving us a Dark Knight who does the graphic novel justice like Bale's did.

We have seen different incarnations of the character before and it did not work well. Look at the flashy tech more child friendly incarnation that was Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Horrible. Given his role as DareDevil, this incarnation is going to be more high action based. But the character of Batman was created as one that is extremely dark and terrifying. Despite the image we have seen with things like the Cartoon batman or some of the movies, the Batman stories were pretty scary and sometimes twisted. If you look at the overall feeling of the Batman Arkham games, that will show you what the original stories were like. That is the only atmosphere I have seen Batman actually work. I just don't see Affleck pulling that off. It doesn't seem to be his territory. 

well being an affleck fan, sort of, i think people should give him a chance, i mean look at jim carey in 13, everyone thought he couldnt pull off a serious role and man, i got to tell you he did amazing.  So I think affleck can pull this off in my  opinion.

Regardless on who was chosen to be Batman, if the film doesn't have good presentation or a good script, the film will suck... and you know who will get all the blame.. The Actor who is Batman...

Don't get me wrong i don't think Ben Affleck is a good choice... but still if the fundamentals are wrong to begin with it doesn't matter what amazing actors you have.

I love how much crap people are talking and all the nerd rage coming out, only because you know for a fact 95% of the people crying are going to see the movie multiple times. I am keeping an open mind about it seeing as I literally just read an article 2 months ago on how people didn't think Keaton was gonna be that great of a Batman. I love Bale as Batman but, in the nineties they had 3 different guys play Batman in the same story line, here we are getting a different story line, different Batman.
I like to see different actors adaptation of characters that I have loved since my early childhood and Batman is probably top of the list for me. I know Ben is a HUUUUUGE comic book fan and I would doubt he would even take the role if he didn't think he could do it justice. Plus he can't be a worse Batman than Clooney and I doubt he'd be a worse Bruce Wayne than Val Kilmer, who knows he just might be able to compete with Bale after it's all said and done.

So let's give the guy a shot before jumping down his throat via internet rage.

Well, if we ever have an asteroid headed towards the earth, at least this batman will be equipped with the skills needed to drill a hole in it and blow it up.  And maybe this time he'll stay behind like he was supposed to.

God everyone is so sensitive these days it's kind of pathetic, just almost got passively aggressively harassed by two kids over a Batman joke lol.

Back in '88, people were angry that an actor known for "comedic roles" - Keaton - was up to play the Bat. Fans cheered when it opened.

Back before X-Men, people were upset that Hugh Jackman - known for his 'romantic' roles - was slated to play the Wolverine.  Fans now want him to stay til he's in a walker.

Back in 2007, "fans" were crying that Heath Ledger was playing the Joker, now an iconic role for him.

Me?  I'm going to give him a chance, watch the movie and, judging from history, smile at what will probably be the most beloved batman yet. That said, please, God, give Laughing Boy a break, ok?

I honestly.. I really did not think that he did a bad job as Daredevil, and given some good material, he could be an awesome excellent batman! I'm sure it'll be cool, and i'm not gonna just assume like most people.

well i guess People of the New batman movie  Saw Ben's role as Daredevil, I have no idea  How been will pull Batman from Daredevil role like what five years ago

Based on what I have read about "Batman"?
Any actor can play him.
BUT,,,
It is the voice of the character that has to be ever so proper and perfect.
Very Few men Can strike terror without a stray thought on giving away their weight class and experience.
Past Struggles have to show with every breath.
Not an easy task.
Who wants to talk like a tight wad all the time?
When you can be a comical attractive person?
It is that ridgidness that makes or breaks a "Batman."

I don't really like the idea of it but then again people will complain no matter who plays the character. I don't think he will be able to play a very dark Batman so I am guessing they are going to go back to the more comedic Batman from the early movies. I am very excited for the release of Batman vs. Superman.

Oh, dear. That is disappointing news for me. I see other people here agree with how I feel. I'm very concerned about how the Justice League will do with him in it, especially since they're competing with The Avengers (which was an excellent movie, I might add).
