tgags123 : Disagree with you 100%. Not trying to sound mean, but I would love to see you not only teach what you have to teach in the short amount of time you see each kid, and have time to have them practice it enough to master what you have taught all in the classroom. Especially when you have 20+ kids PER class. Homework isn't about making you learn. It is about practice. You can't master something if the only time you even bother with it is the 45min or 90min (depending on what school you go to) you are in that class. The brain doesn't work like that. If you don't practice it, you won't master it. If you try to have all of their practice in class, you will never have enough time to get through what you need to get through. Your statement honestly just shows how little you know about how hard it really is.

Homework is NOT about making you learn it. It is about making you master it, which is completely different.

I'm gonna agree with rcarter2 completely on this one.  Homework is NEVER given for a student to learn from.  You know how you probably always understood something in class but then looked at it through different eyes at home?  Felt like you were reading a foreign language?  That's because you haven't -mastered- the skill yet. Heck, I just spent 3 weeks covering the same topics with my kids, giving them homework every night, and I still have several that FAILED the easiest and most basic of tests on the same material.  Why did those kids fail it?

Because they never did their homework.  Working even a dozen examples in class just simply isn't enough.  I wish there WAS enough time to learn AND master in class because then lazy students wouldn't be as big of an issue as they are now.

Definitely homework because I have to sit in class 8 hours a day and then when I come home I have to do  homework it's irritating because all want to do when I get home all I want to do is play Video games, watch to, and use vizzed. So yeah definitely homework   

one thing I hate about school? there are like many things I can list. School taking away most of your day, huge amount of work, stress... etc. There is just too much I hate about school.

I am in my first semester of college and I am pursuing a Bachelor's in Math Education (Math Teacher). I do not like that it is required to do English because it is mainly a bunch of essays.

The thing I hate the most are the kids who sit there texting; now I can see if it's an emergency, but I don't think their texting through the entire class due to an emergency. Another thing about this habit that aggravates me is that a lot of the kids that do this go back later and say they do not know what is going on because the teacher didn't tell them, but they really just don't know because they had their head in their lap.

If there's one thing that I can't stand about school at times is... other students.
Think about it, if you were THE ONLY STUDENT in the school, don't you think it would be more interesting to learn? Obviously that's not possible, but the problem is that a lot of students don't take school seriously and can really disturb those who are studying consciously.

I don't hate one thing about school I hate multiple things. I hate the Parent Portal, which shows my grades to my parents before I get a chance to retake a test. I hate the amount of homework I'm assigned over breaks and weekends. I hate the fact that some students act and dress like total morons. In prison, if you sag your pants it means you're available. Those are just a few things I hate about school.

I don't like how long it takes. If my study halls and lunch were taken out my school day would be over by 12:30. If other wasted times, such as break were taken out, then my school day would only run a little past 12. Maybe lunch could be after school dismisses at 12:30 so that I could still socialize, but knowing that almost three hours of my day is a waste of time makes me annoyed.

The one thing that I hate about school is getting homework from teachers. We stay most of our time in school and then we end up getting more school related stuff at home. It seems like it's a torture replay.
Teachers giving loads of homework is the worst part that I hate about school especially when teachers think that we have no lives and need homework to keep us in company when we have/want to do whatever we desire. Homework stacks up everyday and teachers from all of your classes seem to never understand that. It's just too stressful!

Hmm, I would probably have to say my most hated thing about school would be getting awful teachers in required/core classes. There have been countless years where the teachers I have gotten have been absolutely horrible at teaching. Now, I can't blame them 100% for not learning all of the material, but when I say awful, I really mean awful, and there's no way to avoid them when I have to take the class to pass the grade. 

I dislike agitating teacher of substitution. They do not comprehend as much as the common teacher does.

What I hated the most when I was in high school, which was a very long time ago, was the bullying. Which I get a pretty strong feeling that it has only gotten worse. You are always told that you can tell a teacher or what not if you feel you are being bullied. But all they do is talk to the bully then you are likely to get your but kicked. Even after that they still don't do anything. I don't believe you should say nothing but I do think you should stand up for yourself and do something about it because the people who say that they are going to help you, in my experience, didn't.

rcarter2 : True. And the homework I'd always get in class was about a new part of our unit. We learned another part of calculus, we would practice that on our homework. (However, I would wish by just doing homework, we would automatically learn it.) Not to mention homework isn't really that difficult, because you're intended to practice the subject.

sop281 : I know what you mean. There was no way to get past one of my history teachers for a required basic history class. My grades were fine but the teaching awful. It was have been worse if he was a harsh grader too.

rogueassassin : I hate getting up early, but then I realize that my days feel much longer when I get up at 6 versus at 11 am like I'd most likely do if I got to sleep in late every day.
