Don't get the wrong idea. I still don't like the idea, I am just trying to point out the good parts about it.

Will that material actually be good?  If it is newer members doing it, I'm tempted to say that the material will not be as good as usual.
I can see how this idea could create more content for the site, but I'm not exactly sure that all of it will be satisfactory.  On top of that, I don't like the idea of CP in general.  While most of the big parts are solid, some of the smaller things are easily abused and could lead to a few position shifts (relatively minor, but still shifts).
For the two new ratings, I think that these can be one of those things that are abused (unless the benefits are kept to a LOW number for most/all users).  People can ask their friends to mark their stuff as helpful and good (just like videos and screenshots, mind you).  I think that they will both work out, but there is always the potential for some abuse.

I am thinking the competition for members is that they could rate screen shots and video, or review, or submit videos and game rate and also game commenting and visiting vizzed, and the people who have the net play items can create sessions and that's about 200.0 CP right there

I've got this strange feeling that I'm missing a couple posts here? What is the limit of Contribution Points or is it based on a max? I just want to be sure

mlb789 : There's still some things that need to be fixed with the system, the system isn't final. We'll make adjustments to it as needed next month.

Regarding the 2 new actions, if we detect it being abused (which shouldn't be hard), than we'll definitely hand out punishments. Users will also have restrictions based on powerlevel.

Fireproof : What's the most CP you can earn in a single day? I have no idea honestly.

The point handling will work almost exactly as the VCS. 1st place gets 10 points and 10th place gets 1 point. Since this is the beginning of this competition, we can have higher than usual Viz prizes:

1st. 50,000 Viz
2nd. 25,000 Viz
3rd. 10,000 Viz
4th. 2500 Viz
5th. 1000 Viz

I will of course be the one to pay out the Viz.

Hmm.. Well, I am actually leading for now today!! I am very quite excited for this. I will do my best for all of this without spamming! Most people on the Boards don't even know other ways to earn CP and Viz.. I use Black Bot's secret way to get CP! xD

thephantombrain : You have no idea how hard I have to work to get first each day and get the amount of CP I do. You see I have high standards for myself when it comes to writing reviews, so posting one each day is not an option, I have to play the game thoroughly to get the maximum quality. This means I can rarely manage shipping a review out two days in a row, and there is no way I could do more than 1 a day. The remainder of my CP must be earned through smaller actions, I still struggle to get to the top each day and living in the UK definitely doesn't help me as it requires me to stay up over 7+ extra hours each night to see the day through to the end.

Just putting people into "ranks" wouldn't work, you wouldn't do it with the TDV which higher ranks have more places to post. If you were going to implement a system like this it would still have the time zone flaw where those whose time is further ahead of the server are at a HUGE disadvantage, I myself am one of those people.

If you've been following the events up until recently you would know that RedHotToddy has been a huge competitor for me and has almost beat my many times, succeeding a few times.  It's only thanks to the amount of time I spend getting the CP high enough that I win, I mean, I can easily spend 3+ hours to get the CP I do and this generally includes tedious and boring tasks. With school coming up next Wednesday I've had to work extremely hard for the past 15 days (I didn't even start the competition right away) to get the lead that I've gotten. When school resumes I'll have even less time to get the CP high enough to stay with a lead. So saying that someone has an advantage isn't always the correct thing. I've been ninja'd plenty of times because I've went to bed at a more suitable time to find out I've been beaten by such a small amount of CP. Heck this isn't the only competition that some people have an advantage on, take the tour de vizzed, winning that can be harder if you live in a significantly different time zone. I'm going to expand and change the idea over on the discussion thread.

Heck if you want an example, not last TDV but the one prior to that I won as a trusted member, there was plenty of staff competing and they had three more forums to post in, but it was still possible, anyway just remember second place is still a lot of viz, and I'll probably be knocked off first before the end so yeah.


Now as for the system itself, currently there is many things affecting the results, be it existing CP, rank or time zone, starting with CP as we all know, depending on how much CP you have you get a CP and Viz multiplier, I think that statistics should ignore the multiplier as newer members will not get any multiplier while more experiences users will. Ranks of-course have advantages, but the usage of these advantages depends on the person, just look above for my take. Finally time zone is a huge issue in all of the monthly forum competitions, people in a time zone ahead or opposite to the vizzed time are at a huge disadvantage, people who live in America have the advantage as they can easily stay up to midnight +/- 2 or so hours however, those beyond that are greatly disadvantaged as they could easily be ninja'd when they go to bed. I think a possible solution to this would be to make the VCS pages only viewable by moderators, such as the host so that people would have to earn as much CP as they would think would let them win, of-course there are ways around this but it would somewhat help wouldn't it?

This competition is still going on LOL I forgot about it. But I assume the competition is still between iN008, tRUINE, and Earthwarrior,( I haven't been keeping up with this competition.)

thephantombrain : I understand the point your getting at, yes staff has a clear advantage over all the regular users of the board because of the fact they can do more contribution actions and ratings but as I was told "a normal member can over come the staff advantage if they try hard enough and if you want the advantage become staff".


iN008 : actually if you post to many times in a restricted forum(forums that the basic members can't access) during the TDV's you could actually get Disqualified. (just saying).
