There's still no word on when the maintenance will be complete, hostgator is taking their time and giving me very little information.

In the previous announcement I mentioned backing up the site 3 times a day. Basically any content submitted to the site before I make a backup will most likely be safe and has a better chance of not being lost. Any content made after a backup has a better chance of being lost once the migration is complete; read the previous announcement for more information as to why this is the case.

Here are the times I'll be making the backups (the times aren't exact):
-11 AM Central Time
-5 PM Central Time
-11 PM Central Time
So if you plan to submit a lot of content to the site, try to do it before a backup.

I should also point out that while these backups take place, the site will become slower and will go down a few times. The backups shouldn't take more than 15-30 minutes each.

So the posts I made yesterday are backed up? Does this include posts that I edited?

That stinks that Hostgator is being so secretive as to what is going on with your maintenance. You figure that they would be a little more forthcoming as to what is going on. Especially a site with as much traffic as this one.

Sorry about all the trouble David. We appreciate the extra work you are putting in.

I Hope Hostgator's Back-ups wont  get overdrived that vizzed will be removed and all data deletion occurs  ( Like in 2009 )

Thanks for the update. That would explain the server strain that just happened. I will try to make most of my posts before 5 hopefully and then maybe more before 11. Glad you gave us a time frame of when you will be doing a back up. Hopefully I can get all of my posts in before then. I hope hostgator speeds things up and actually accomplishes something.

earthwarrior : Any post you made before a backup is safe, including ones yesterday. If the edit took place before a backup, than it's safe.

Jordanv78 : They told me they had some errors during the migration but that's about all they've told me. No real answer as to when it'll be finished.

The 'Godaddy Website Protection' is a service that Godaddy provides that checks your site for problems (such as spam, malware, etc) and lets people viewing the site know that the site is safe and legit. You don't need to have a Godaddy server or Godaddy hosting to use it, Godaddy offers a lot of nice non-hosting services.

I wonder why the Hostgator guys are taking so much time at this...  Anyways... At least nothing shall be lost thanks to the Back Ups.

earthwarrior : Yes, it's showing error 71017 and it just showed again when I tried to post to you, so I'm not sure this will even go through.  I have a list of games to get to David for prices.


Edit: Should I just try waiting until all this upgrade stuff is over?  Maybe that's the issue.  It won't let me submit a big list of stuff, just these small messages.
