Metroid was one of the games I grew up with (the GBA, SNES, and Gamecube games). It was kind of like a Zelda-style platformer set in the alien worlds of outer space, except Metroid was a bit more unique and exciting. It has much more interesting abilities, it had a much more interesting storyline, and you got to shoot aliens as you explored each mysteriously designed room. Collecting all of the missile/energy expansions (and beating the game as fast as you could) was challenging and rewarding, and I loved the feel of being alone on a hostile alien planet. Super Metroid is by far one of my favorite games to this day.

While Zelda is a better overall series of games and I enjoy the feel of it, I feel that some of its games are a bit overrated, especially Link to the Past. Not bad, just a little boring at times. I like solving puzzles, exploring overworlds, looting dungeons, collecting tools, and slashing enemies, but I feel that Zelda is a bit of a one-trick pony in some ways. Still a great game, just a one-trick pony. I still love Link to the Past, but it's just worn thin on me a little bit. It only stays fun for so long when I've already finished it before. May the legacy of Link live on...or not, at the rate Nintendo's going right now with their crappy Wii U gimmick.

xandermartin98 : I never grew up playing Metroid, so I'm not used to it. Legend of Zelda is a franchise I know and love. I'm sorry, but I"m voting for Zelda. I hear Metroid is a good game, and I've played it, but I never got connected to the games.

Zelda of course I love action puzzlers way more than platformer a like Metroid still Metroid is a very great series and all but Zelda is way better.

I actually grew up with both, but Metroid had more replay value to me.

I have to go with Zelda mostly because I played Zelda more than Metroid and I haven't played Metroid on the SNES, but I might try it on here one day.

It has intrigued me more because of it's fantasy and the first game had more story than the first metroid.

That is a pretty hard question, I love both series, and it is usually a tie for which one is my favorite. I love the atmosphere/ sci-fi, power ups, and main character of Metroid. But I also like the Dungeons, items/ Master Sword, and lore of Zelda. I guess if I have to pick a favorite, I would go with Zelda. I grew up with it, and I have more of an attachment for it. I never bought any Metroid merchandise, but I bought a Zelda Calender, Hyrule Historia, and alert tone. Plus I like long games, and most Zelda games are longer than Metroid, plus speed running inst my thing. But I also feel that Metroid is pretty underrated and should get more attention, I also think that Zelda should take a page out of Metroid's book with more exploration and less hand holding. All in all though they are both amazing.

I would have to to go with Zelda. I tried to get into the Metroid series, but I never could. I actually liked Twilight Princess in the Zelda series, so yeah. Zelda gets my vote here on this one. 

Zelda. I just know about it more and didn't get a chance to play Metroid as much. Besides, Most of the Zelda games, I've played either here in the RGR or on my DS.

Wow, I am surprised that everyone loves Zelda! Zelda is a lot more known, and I play it with my friends sometime. But sadly, I do not play ANY of the Zelda games anymore. I got bored..

Tough choice. Although i love metroid i have to go with my childhood series. ZELDA!

I prefer Zelda because I really could never get into Metroid, but I use to play LoZ for hours on end. Sometimes I even played 36 hrs straight.

If there was a choice for me to play, I would pick Zelda. The series's replayability is pretty high, and to be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Metroid series.
