Earthworm Jim was a very short-lived game franchise that had only two really enjoyable games: the first and the second. (The first was ported to a ton of different systems, with quality varying between ports). It was a very unique, funny, challenging, and entertaining game. The difficulty started to wear thin after beating it a bunch of times (the game became easy for me), but it was just fun playing as Jim and seeing all these crazy characters and environments. When I saw the cartoon based off of this franchise, I was surprised by how underrated it was. It was original, funny (although a bit bland and overdone at times), and very colorful, with excellent writing and clever little storylines for each episode. Does anyone remember Earthworm Jim? If so, do you miss him?

I do. I kind of wished more games could have been released. It was a good short lived series that could have made up some good work. You will be missed Jim.

I just started playing the original after playing the N64 version. The original is really fun, and I just love the art work and over all feel of the game. The backgrounds and atmosphere of each level is presented well and very immersive. And not to even mention the animations of each character.

If I remember, I have played Earthworm Jim a lot of times when I was younger, and I think they should make like a reboot on this game in the future because it was a very great game.

Earthworm Jim was a pretty good part of my childhood. Heck, I even watched the cheesy cartoon shows and with the VHS tapes. It's a shame they don't make him in any games anymore, but I'd love to see more from him.

pacman1755 : The Earthworm Jim cartoon shows were INCREDIBLY cheesy (easily on a list of the top 5 cheesiest things I've ever seen), but it was meant to be that way, and I kind of loved it, although the episodes had very limited replay value and the jokes could be pretty overdone and bland at times. I wish that people hadn't started basing Jim's games off of the cartoon...

My favorite episode of the Earthworm Jim cartoon was easily "Sword of Righteousness". Jim wears a ludicrously god-awful Viking costume in public while following the orders of a talking sword who has never won a fight before (well, ok, maybe one). "NOW, JIM! EXPLOIT his WEAKNESSES! SUMMON the WARRIOR WITHIN! FEEL the BURN! DESTROY HIM, WITH HIS OWNNNN EEEVILLLLL! LEAP, with your RIGHT, I mean your LEFT! YOUR LEFT-"

xandermartin98 : and even one episode literally had a plot point OF cheese. But yeah, the games before had a hit to it, and the cartoon mellowed it down too much.

Yes, I remember Jim. I only caught one episode of the show. I watched the Animaniacs in those days at that hour. (They where just funnier at the time.)
I Miss Jim, The Duke (Nukem), the Doom Guy, and many hits from my past.
Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
It was fun.
Good Luck.
Peace.

orionfoxgibson : Of course the Animaniacs was a better show. Animaniacs is the best. I know this even though I don't really watch TV. I have a really hard time thinking of a kids' show that was funnier than the Animaniacs; in fact, I'm not sure if I can. EWJ was on for only 23 episodes, basically like Freakazoid.

Yes, I find it kind of odd that the shows that were even slightly educational were Short lived.
But
Nearly every show that had a bit of humour in it was frowned on quite often in those days.
Even if it was a kids show.
The phrase and practice of Political Correctness was a funny thing for Television in those days. Everyone was horribly afraid of being offensive on T.V.
Very Few had guts.
Even the first season of Dragon Ball was edited heavily. Even comics that were imported were edited. Regardless of all the material we could get exposed to in our native graphic novels.

Entertainment was an odd business in those days.
Today? I am not certain if the restrictions still apply, but whenever comedy is involved? You can bet that someone will be at work to have the thing rated or taken off. (Could be about competition. I always suspect business and money to have a hand in things like this. So, do not think it to be a serious problem. Just another part of life.)

The real issue?
Sometimes... We get told what is funny and what is not.

Thanks again.

Peace.

I've heard of Earthworm Jim yet never saw the cartoon show, maybe I'll search up the short lived show.

B619ook : It was CRAZILY short-lived, and believe me, it was cheesier than a Baconator. Don't believe me? Go ahead and watch it. I personally enjoyed the purposeful cheesiness, but you have been warned.

Stopping at two games was a big mistake of the developers. They should bring it back and use the same equipment from back then to make the new game.

PixelBrick : That is exactly my point with this thread. Thank you, Captain Obvious saves the day! Earthworm Jim needs a serious comeback, or else he is dead forever.

PixelBrick : They made a third for Nintendo 64 and PC, aptly named "Earth Worm Jim 3-D". It was not well received by critics as well fans. It would be really cool to see a reboot in the series, though, and it could possibly redeem itself from its 3-D loss.

Oh my gosh, I literally just downloaded that game yesterday and it is SWEET!

I was pretty angry at first because he had a blaster yet I couldn't shoot.

It took me two levels to figure it out HAAA. But I still found it to be very awesome.
