So... a while back, my apartment flooded. Well, honestly, not even awhile back.  Less than a week ago. The lady upstairs left her washer running and it backed up.  Nobody was in the house because I had gone to the park, and she had gone to run other errands since it's not her apartment or washer.

Well, I came home to discover 2 or 3 inches of water in my WHOLE apartment!  It took about 3 hours, 3 women, and a shop vac to get all the water out of the house, and my bedroom still smells like wet cardboard.  The landlady said she would get someone to come cut out part of the ceiling and patch it up.

That has yet to happen.

Instead, I went to sleep last night, and woke up to THIS.  I KID YOU NOT! This grew in ONE NIGHT!




DO YOU SEE HOW SLIMY IT IS?!?! It's slobbering on my floor!!!!



But it gets WORSE!  This is what it looked like this morning:


And just HOURS later... I kid you not!!  A mere HOURS later!  This is what it looked like!!!!



Does anyone know what this is?!  *cries*

It looks like a mushroom or mold of some kind, did you get someone to come and check it out professionally?

It looks like to me like it's some sort of growth like a mushroom or a mold. It would make sense considering it was probably damp up there. I would get that fixed as soon as you can because sometimes growths like that can be dangerous to your health.

You should have a professional check that out. It could be toxic, so good instincts about not wanting to be in the room. 

Are you guys even reading that this grew in ONE night!?!?!  Aieeeee!!!!!!  I'm soooo creeped out!!!!! Seriously!  I want to cry!

It's about 8 inches long!  (the longest mushroom thingie).

oh man! This looks very scary. I can't believe this! Their is actually fungus growing on your ceiling and floors... Oh boy...  I wish you my best luck for all of this stuff to go away! I definitely feel bad for you. Good luck dealing with this! 

That looks horrible but i'm pretty sure that is a mushroom the last picture kinda gave it away.

But seriously now, like everyone said, it's probably some sort of mushroom or mold. It's really weird that it has grown this much in pretty much 24 hours, but I can't see another reasonable explanation...

Probably it's not toxic, but you can never know, so do check out if you can.

It could always be an alien though... bwahaha!

DEAR GOD WHAT IS THAT THING?! It appears there's a mushroom growing in your mushROOM *badumtish*(Oh my god that was the baddest pun ever, why did I even do that. D: and is that thing even a mushroom?) That's the weirdest and creepiest thing I've ever seen! Don't touch it, and don't even THINK about eating it. It is probably a mushroom or some sort of moldy fungus that has been growing, they grow after damp musty water flooding, and it will probably keep growing if you don't get someone to professionally look at it. It has been spreading pretty quickly, I would get it looked at before it spreads any faster and gets more slimy and moldy. I feel bad, that just looks really horrible, but yeah it has the anatomy of a mushroom or some sort of moldy fungus looking material, I would get it checked. Hope you get this fixed!

I seriously don't know what I would do in THAT situation, I never saw such kind of... THING before, like, what in the planet is this?!
If you want, I can get a grenade to solve the problem... I SERIOUSLY recommend you get a professional to look at that, like, man, IT'S SO -censored- NASTY AND CREEPY! And seeing it grow so quickly, it gives me the worst of the creeps!

I asked to my father if he saw something like this, and yes, he recognized it as a fungus.
Sing, according to my father, he said you have to remove that fungus by scraping it, AVOIDING contact as much as possible and using a mask, since it can be Toxic, after removing it, desinfect using chlorine, clean the area and then paint.
Well, my father saw the pictures and all, but he didn't believe you, saying that if those things existed, we would be walking on them, he was saying "A fungus grow up like this in a question of a day? That doesn't exist!", I seriously don't know, but well, the tip to remove it is above.

Singelli :    Dear Lord that is disgusting!  You either need your land lady to come and fix this or get a new house entirely. It's kind of unacceptable that the land lady says she'll do something and then she doesn't and then you get fungus in your roof.
