I currently have a blogger (blogspot) that I use to write blogs and stuff like that. I also use it to connect to my YouTube channel that does film related videos as well as educational videos about apologetics. However, as I keep looking at it, it seems a little unprofessional and I am thinking of moving on actually making a more professional website that has the option of being free. Is there anyone here who makes their own free website and would be able to recommend me of a certain provider, like weebly, wordpress, etc?

I do not know what to tell you on that. My favourite webpage... "The Greatest Web Page In The Universe." By J. Madox. Supposedly costs him a ton of cash each year.

Yet, I see guys all the time on "youtube" popping up stuff.

So, you might want to ask your professional communities, Scholarly Communities, or Religious Communities where to go. I am not one of those people that puts all of my stuff out there for the world to see.

What do your buds who are pros say?

(I honestly am curious about this topic too not for my needs just that I see a ton of false news and such and wonder where it all comes from. If they can get their stuff up? Then an honest guy like you should be able to get something going.)

Good Luck.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Tumblr is a pretty good options. Rather easy to set up, you can have "pages" and a blog really easily. Just avoid reblogging everything you see, or it will turn unprofessional really quickly. Cartoon Death Zone, Natzilla, and Frederator Studios all use Tumblr for their sites and they look pretty good, I think.

Wordpress.com is really easy to use, and unlike Tumblr, kind of separates you from other blogs. It's a lot like Blogger but with more options.

If you're willing to spend about $10, you can get your own domain name (Play4fun.com, or something like that) to look even more professional.

Me? I make my own site. Don't know if it's professional looking or not, but it at least FEELS better than using one of those tumblrs or wordpresses. I have three domains and hosting, and for all of that I pay about $250 every two years. So it really just depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. If you have any more questions, shoot me a PM or something.

Lazlo Falconi : hehe...I'm not a rich person, so I don't plan on paying that much money to make my own website, but for the domain name, is that a one time payment, or is that a monthly payment...for something like Wordpress or something. Also, the ones you suggested (Tumblr, Wordpress, blogger which I currently have. aren't those considered to be blog sites rather than a website?

The $10 is a yearly payment to keep your domain name. You can point it anywhere you want (Even to your own computer)

Yes, they are considered more "blog" type websites, but I've used the wordpress engine to create professional websites for companies before. Wordpress especially is meant to be a website with a blog attached, even though a lot of it seems geared toward blogs. Tumblr is primarily blogging, yes, but you can create pages and even turn the blog off on both sites rather easily.

Here are some examples of people who have used Wordpress to create really exciting and engaging websites that don't even look like wordpress. Of course, they used the download-and-install yourself version of wordpress (Which requires you to have a server) but you can still do some pretty similar things with wordpress.com sites.

Lazlo Falconi : You seem very knowledgeable about this. What's your opinion on sites like webs.com, webstart, wix, weebly, etc etc?

Making a website that looks professional, for free with spending almost no money is kinda difficult. Especially if you aren't a web developer yourself as well as good at graphic design.

There are plenty of sites out there that you can use, but I wouldn't call them "professional" looking.

For those little type of "Blog" sites Tumblr and Wordpress are the easiest to use.

Never heard of webstart and wix, but since you lumped it in with webs.com and weebly, I can safely assume it's of the same calibre and to be kept as far away from real web sites as possible. They're very difficult to use and do not support any dynamic content, and they have sort of a bad reputation.

Wordpress and Tumblr have some negative reaction, too, but they're used by serious professionals so it sort of balances out. I would recommend either of those two over anything else, really--and this coming from a guy who really, really hates Tumblr.

Can I ask, what do you plan to do with this site?

Lazlo Falconi : Yeah, part of it is to connect my YouTube video productions to a website as a contact or as a suppliment to the videos as well as having a blog included for myself. Currently I do Christian apologetics while incorporate film techniques and screenplay to help educate people about answers to common questions or objections if they choose to seek truth, while at the same time make it entertaining. I've sorta been in hiatus on that project, but I am currently trying to revamp all the connections. Currently I use a blogger, but I just don't think it looks that great anymore and it feels limited now, so I am thinking of moving on to a better tool for me to use.
