Pretty much what the title says. I think it's bad for the gaming industry, and if we pirate games than gaming companies might stop making games or make dumb DRM things (Looking at you SimCity) Which hurt more the users buying the game than those who pirated it. One fun little anti-piracy patch is the game "Game Dev Tycoon". The developers put some cracked versions online where after a while in the game people start pirating your games and you lose because you go bankrupted. Another one I liked was in Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green if you talk to the guy in front of the S.S. Anne he says "By the way, if you like this game, buy it or die!"

So, what do you guys think about people pirating games? Any thoughts of how to stop it without hurting the people who buy the game? Share your thoughts!

Pirating always happens. There's pretty much no way around it. You can try with stuff like the "Always Online" or "No Used Games" stuff, but in the end, you'll fail. Just look at SEGA's DreamCast. They created an entirely new CD unit to try and completely prevent piracy, and it did the exact opposite. In fact, it only made pirating 100% easier. All you had to do was burn the game onto a disc, and bam, saved yourself ~$50. Unfortunately it led to it's complete demise, but that wasn't enough of an example to make people stop pirating.

Personally, I don't care for pirating. Sure, I'll do it sometimes with some games, DmC Devil May Cry for example, but that's usually as a test. If I like it, I'll go ahead and then buy the full game (Which I almost did with Borderlands. Downloaded it, got paranoid, deleted it, and bought the full games. No regrets). But what I like most is when indie devs are friendly with the piraters and essentially say "We're sad to see it's already up for stealing, but we hope you have fun and buy it soon!" I saw this with They Bleed Pixels on Pirate Bay around Christmas time, for example (Though, I ended up getting gifted the game instead later that day ).

But anyways, don't care for it either way.

I will pirate a game for several reasons.
1) There is no demo available for the game.
2) EA don't deserve my money.
3) I have no money to spend.
4) The developers only released the game in certain countries.#
5) EA don't deserve my money.

When it comes to indie games, I WILL ALWAYS buy it as indie developers deserve every penny they get for their hard work. It is also incentive for them to make more games.

Well it's illegal and bad for the video game companies. At least it is a whole lot cheaper than buying video games.

Normally, I really don't like pirating not just video games, but pretty much anything, the reason why, it isn't really right, but I do have to admit that yeah, I have pirate a couple things, mostly if I don't have any money on me, but I really want something (mostly music).
