I find Links Awakening to be highly under rated. People just kinda throw it out the window cuz it doesnt have awesome graphics or color. (unless you wanna count DX) I mean, so many characters in that game were there first. Not to mention the concept of waking up a giant whale by playing songs is kinda trippy yo

Considering all that has happened, I would say the most underrated is Minish Cap. I found that game extremely fun, (then again, I found every Zelda game fun) but you do not hear about it a lot. Compared to the top answers here, Zelda II, Links Awakening, the Oracle games, and Four Swords all saw a 3DS/DSI E-Shop release, while Minish Cap is nowhere to be seen. I don't hear much about it, which sucks because it is my third favorite handheld title in the series (behind Spirit Tracks and A Link Between Worlds). I just think the game doesn't get what it deserves.

Another absurdly underrated title is Skyward Sword. While I do understand that a bunch of people don't like it because it felt more linear and felt less of an adventure, I found the game a worthy new addition to the series. Fi was kind of annoying, but less so to me than anyone else. (another thing I must point out, Navi is treated as a lighthearted joke, while Skyward Sword is criticized for having Fi in it. All because everyone LOOOOVVVEEESSS Ocarina of Time ) The game was expansive, felt a lot more open that previous titles, and was a blast to play and see what it had to offer. I think the first Zelda, the Legend of Zelda for the NES, is underrated. In my opinion, its my favorite Zelda game from the franchise and, believe it or not, I also think its the hardest to play. I mean there is absolutely NO way you can beat this entire game without some kind of help. You have to look up some kind of guide or walkthrough to help you out. In some dungeons, I remember you have to walk through walls to advance in the dungeon. There is no way of knowing you have to do that unless you helplessly walked around each and every room, trying to find a way out. Very underrated game, in my opinion.

I'd have to agree with tgags and Boxia and say Twilight Princess. It's my favorite Zelda game, and I've never seen anyone talk about it being that good or anything. It deserves a lot more attention than it has.

I never hear about the Oracle games very much. And they are insane. They are absolutely huge adventures with tons of variety and actual story, and the games push the GBC's hardware to the limits. Due to all of this, I'd say these games need more attention.

Zelda phantom hour glass is defiantly the most underrated. That game is so fun! No one really talks about it. The game is my favorite from the hand held console besides ocarina of time 3ds. The game has it flaws, i know, but its still a master peice.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is underrated quite a bit. Everyone avoids it because of the timer, but that ADDS to the feel of the game, and it can be overridden by using the Ocarina to play the song of time, and the Reversed Song of Time to slow down time around you. I don't see why it's such a big deal. It's also filled with tons of things to do. There are SO MANY sidequests and secrets, some easy and some difficult to do, that add large amounts of depths to this game.
I wish so badly that they make a remake for the 3DS like they did with Ocarina of Time. One day...

Links Awakening is one of them, never hear it being mentioned or discussed its quite sad since its actually pretty good. Was first LOZ game i played as a child so i have good memories of it. The most underrated Legend of Zelda game has to be Link's Awakening, the reason I have picked this game, I have seen quite a few reviews on this game and a lot of those reviews are quite negative, and if they didn't any negative attention to this game, people never really cared about this game because the 1st game and the 3rd game (for the Super Nintendo) were the best games in the series to my point of view.
