Will1 : I agree with you, homework should just all be classwork, So when students go home, they can finally have a break from the rough school day.

Yeah as much as I really feel like it should be an at school thing, if you want a good education there is just some stuff teachers aren't able to cover during class and the test what you know with that homework and if you don't bother to do it then that just shows that you don't really care and you want a bad grade and to fail the class. Honestly I never want to think of homework when I get home, I just want to come home and relax. But I have an ap course and all advanced classes and I know what is expected so as much as I hate doing it, it is a daily part of my life. So yes I really wish that it could be saved for an at school thing, but unfortunately to succeed in that class, you have to be willing to do the work. So if you don't like doing homework then it shows that you have a poor work ethic and that you really don't care about your grades at all.

Well I heard in some schools they have this program that you do your homework right after school then you get to attend your sports right after you finish but thats right after school not during school though.

I agree and disagree at the same time. I am a teacher, so I'll try to give my input on the thing.

You mentioned it being difficult to do homework because of sports. The thing is, in high school/middle school, sports are a school activity. By doing sports, you are putting that extra difficulty in scheduling on yourself. I think in now way whatsoever should sports be an excuse for not having time to do your work. Again, doing sports is your choice and you decided to try to juggle it all. 

On top of that, I try to make as much work we do in school hands on. That means we do a lot of experiments and discussion based lessons, which means very little home work. Now, with classes such as math, there is too much. For ANYTHING, you don't master something unless you practice it. In a lot of classes, that is the source of information on how to do stuff, and homework is to be the practice time to help you actually master it.

With that, when I assign homework, I handle it a little differently. Homework is the time to practice and the time to make mistakes. So for me, the homework grade is based on effort. If they completed it and followed the requirements (which shows me effort), then they get full points for it. We go over the homework, and find out where my classes are struggling, and we work more on that. 

But I do think that homework should not become overwhelming. But in many cases, homework is necessary to get the practice in when there is literally no time in class to stop and practice. My classes are just ones that are more beneficial when we can discuss and experiment as we learning. We actually learn our material as we experiments. We typically go into the experiments with very little knowledge. We do it, observe, try to come up with explanations, and then go over the concepts. That is a routine I can't have them do at home.

I think it should be in school because lets face it nobody actually takes in the work they are asked to do because they want to do other things that interest them, that and I usually manage to get the homework done before the end of lesson because my teachers were too slow at secondary, it's not their fault it is the fact that most of the "top" class was a bit slow on the uptake.

I didn't really get it with teachers giving us homework to do, don't they realize that students got other things to worry about rather than working on stuff for school. I just fell that doing this just take time out of things you really want to do.

So bottom line, all works from school should stay at school and not interfere my home life, that's how I looked at it when I was in school.

Homework should be finished while you're still at school, when I was in high school I managed to finish all of my homework before class was even let out. In college I wasn't so lucky and my grades suffer. Actual homework sucks because when you get home the last thing you want to do is school work

I always did homework at school. My classes were pretty much very relaxed about classwork, so there was always time to do homework during class.

I think home work should be done at home. After all, it's called "Home"work. It's surprisingly hard to do well in school if you don't the homework. Especially in math. It's all good practice so you can keep things in your memory.

I never did homework at home. If I didn't finish it in class(or another class) I would finish it up at the library after school while hanging out with my friends. If I never finished it there, I didn't finish it at all. xD

Homework is a waste of time. Kids should get no homework so they can get more active.

I believe that it should be done at home as it's either a follow up lesson from teachers that they weren't able to teach during class time, (maybe due to time restrictions) or it's meant to prepare you for the next lesson and as a review of the past lessons.

What I tend to disagree with is that the number and length of home works seemed to be always long specially when I was in high school, so I find it wrong for teachers to give us those kinds of tedious assignments. They're supposed to be aids for learning, not the reason for us to have no free time. D:

In my opinion it's ruining your social time if it's at home. My teachers are usually running out of work to give us so why not do homework in SCHOOL instead? Not like the teacher has any more work to give us. It's just stupid.

I always finished my homework at school, it was pretty easy so I could do it in school. I get the point if why we do homework, so we get it stuck in out minds, but I had better things to do at home so I just finished the work at school.

Home, that is why it is called homework.
And you can do your work without your teachers help and it helps your grades.
It proves you have the capability to do all your work by yourself.

As much as I hated homework when I was still in school, and I thought that all work should be done in school, I am sure that it is called HOMEwork for a reason. Home gets my vote, against my better judgement. 

I think homework should be for school. I had lots of homework in elementary school and I still do in middle school. I even had a book report assignment during spring break in 4th grade

Homework should be done anytime anywhere after it is given. Either if it be at home , school or even  Burger King.

I think that school work should always be done in school, and let me explain why. First of all, when you go to school in the morning you are concentrated on your work, your like: "Man, I wanna go to school, eat lunch, and then go home and post on vizzed fourms" When you go home, you are tired,excited to go on computer, or play outside, or maybe even just take a nap, you see we don't want to take homework at home also because at school, if you have a question,more times or not, the teacher will help you, also you can work with your friends on work, plus so when I go home, I am not like: "Oh gosh darn, I have homework." Just putting it out there, have a good summer guys.
