Do Mythical creatures count?
My favorite ' Mythical ' sea creature is Abaia.

Abaia is a huge, magical eel in Melanesian mythology.
According to Melanesian mythology the Abaia is a type of large eel which dwells at the bottom of freshwater lakes in the Fiji,Solomon and VanuatuIslands. The Abaia is said to consider all creatures in the lake its children and protects them furiously against anyone who would harm or disturb them. It is said that those who are foolish enough to try to catch the fish from a lake containing the Abaia are immediately overwhelmed by a large wave caused by the thrashing of the Abaia’s powerful tail.

I personally like the crocodile, it is huge, very powerful and it is also a very successful animal as well. It survived along the same time as the dinosaurs did and it survived and it is one of the oldest reptiles still alive making it very successful. They have 66 teeth and they have a bite force of 3000-5000 psi (pounds per square inch) and it is an animal to be feared because it will easily without hesitation kill a lion or any bypassing animal that goes across the river into the crocodile's territory. Believe it or not they are also faster then humans which you probably wouldn't have guessed by their appearance of a low body and short legs, but they can run 30 mph and the best thing to do if you are chased by one is to run in a zig zag motion because they won't be able to turn quick enough to catch you.

I watched this show about crocodiles today and how the conditions are just right and the areas are so dense that they could reach super size like their ancestors. Here is a picture of a skull comparison of a modern day crocodile with its large ancestor sarcosuchus a super crocodile.

Yeah pretty huge right? Well a modern day crocodile can be up to 23 feet and weigh close to one ton which is 2,000 pounds. Sound big? Well guess what, Sarcosuchus weighed about 10 tons and measured 40 feet long and they have a bite force of 18,000 psi. Big difference right? Well imagine something that size could have the right conditions and potential to exist on earth. So yeah it is pretty impressive.

Yeah I know they were very amazing creatures in their time and to think that crocodiles could possibly reach that size now is a very mind boggling and scary thought. It is not just crocodiles either, snakes are also in the right conditions to hit a huge size boost, there was a prehistoric snake that was enormous, so much so that it could actually constrict crocodiles and swallow them whole, with a meal like that they didn't have to eat for days. The longest reticulated python was recorded at 25 feet long but there was a snake in Indonesia that was also a python and it was recorded to be 49 feet , 983 pounds and considered to be the world's largest. Imagine something like that coiling itself around your body and constricting you until your lungs are crushed and you become paralyzed. Now imagine this Titanoboa was about 50 feet long and it puts any modern day snake to shame at 2,500 pounds now an animal so large would make short work of you let alone prehistoric sized crocodiles. 50 feet and that is just an estimate off of the evidence we do have, there are potentially titanoboa snakes that could have been 60,70 or 100 feet, but besides being extremely huge, it is thick at about 4 feet thick, don't believe me, look at these:

Now don't tell me you can look at these and not be scared, this snake is monstrously huge!
