This has been a problem for many years and I recently accidentally came across the solution.

Before when someone was replying to a thread in a private forum, it'd say 'Replying to a restricted thread', even if you had access to that forum. This is fixed and it'll now say what thread they're replying to as long as you have access to the forum that the thread is in.

This is a small update but a very handy one.

I got a PM from someone saying that they could see someone replying to a thread in the site staff forum as a trusted member.

How much testing was done on this? Wouldn't hurt to have a bit of testing to just see how much visibility people have that they shouldn't.

as a newbie I can't see anything showing up when I reply to threads in any of the restricted forums...

I'm not sure how it would change it I were a member or trusted member but at least I can verify that newbies don't see the thread titles.

With this update, I didn't mess around with who can and cannot post in private forums so it's very unlikely that people who couldn't reply to restricted threads before can suddenly reply to restricted threads.
