Does the refreshing of game pages cause you issues?

When you're playing a game, the game's page refreshes every 15 minutes. So my question is basically asking if when the page refreshes, does it affect your game at all? By either locking up your controls, lagging the game, etc.

Davideo7 : I will say that there are times OCCASIONALLY when the site refreshes in a bad spot in a game and it kinda screws you up, but this is very rare and really was only an issue when the site was having performance issues.

Well, since my good laptop is broken I am forced to use my age-old crappy laptop that I am on now, and any time that the page refreshes, the games framerate drastically drops. It is annoying, especially on games for N64.

Normally, it doesn't seem to do anyhing, but the last few times, it has locked up my game for a few seconds. It hasn't ever locked up the controls or anything like that. Sometimes, there is some lag.

It never affected me. I like the refreshing because I can see if I got a notification or message. 

It stops my game at random times. and then after that, it's all better.

The page refresh hardly ever affects my gaming.  If it does happen to, I might experience a small hiccup in the play, but it's hardly noticeable and is immediately remedied. I wouldn't really consider it an issue at all, on my part.

I don't think  it has ever effected my game.  Not even at the least.  When it refreshes I nothing ever goes wrong for me.

For me, when I was doing netplay for my streaming of games through the Vizzed RGR Plugin on Sunday evening, anytime at all there was a refresh (in-game chat or the game page itself), I got lag during the refresh. It would actually freeze up my screen for a few seconds, and when it recovered, the game screen advanced during the time I couldn't do anything. You can actually see it a few times in the video I posted up, and it'll show in the other videos I still need to put up but couldn't because of homework.

In-game chat should be turned off by default when doing a speedrun or score attack anyway, because you don't really want to chat when going for fastest time or highest score (especially since your time is recorded in the event of a tie for score attack), but there is no option to disable it for those modes.

This for me has been an ongoing problem since way back before the plugin was ever released. My first actual complaint about it was during my Kirby's Dream Land LP. It's better with some games than others, but it still gets in the way most of the games I play, and it especially hinders Kaillera netplay since it doesn't auto-update the state to the latest like Mednafen does when the game freezes on a frame. This could be another cause of the desync issues.

While most of my problems come from the game lagging, I do rarely get input lag as a result of a refresh as well.

Not for all games, I cant single out a system, but it will freeze the game for a little bit, sometimes I have to exit out.

sonikku : You're sure that the in game chat refreshing caused that?

Actually that's not a bad idea to turn off the chat during speed runs and high score mode, no one is going to be chatting while they're in those modes, otherwise that'd affect their time.

Davideo7 : Less often than the game pages refreshing, since it's a lot less data to load in as compared to the game page, but there were a couple times during Kaillera netplay where I noticed the chat refresh caused the game to lag. Then again, the chat refresh could also have been timed with a game page refresh to screw with my perception of things.

I never have any issues serious enough to bring up concerns with the refreshing really. From time to time it will refresh, and temporarily make my controller not work. But that is easily fixed, I just need to click on the game window, and it solves the problem. It doesn't really interfere with my gaming, as when it does it the game pauses anyway. So I'm not left in a life or death part of anything when it happens. But it rarely happens, so I wouldn't see it as a big issue for me personally.

No, game pages refreshing doesn't cause any issues. It used to, but not anymore. When the game page refreshes the game stays the same and lags for about 2 seconds and that's not really an issue.

I have to say yes, occasionally the game does mess up and crash. I just get off the game page while I'm playing anyways so it doesn't really affect me anymore.

No... not that I can recall. My laptop usually crashes when it over heats. But, on the Net Play page, the Net Play parts lags a bit when it refreshes.

Yes, when  the game page refreshes, sometimes my controls locks up, and I'm unable to act, the action currently pressed keeps going until the page finishes refreshing, to prevent this, before I start playing ANY game, I go to the notifications page, which don't keep refreshing.
