First of all this is more of an question that's been bugging me lately.Okay here it goes...Why is Ash weak?I mean why doesn't he use his old Pokémon to win the elite four.Or why is Ash's Pokémon seem weak (not counting unova Pokémon's,that I can understand).Shouldn't his Pikachu be lv.100.Because it got defeated by Lenora! She is the 2 gym so her Pokémon's should be around 20.Ash has a current total of :

40 badges
4 orange league badges
7 Frontier Symbols

So like I said,Ash should be defeating all those trainers like a breeze but he weirdly chooses to drop all his Pokémon's (excluding Pikachu ) and recatching new pokemons. Now I don't have a problem with that, but he acts like a rookie each season its like confusing! Maybe its with Ash being 10 every single dang time they show an new season.Dosent Ash have a birthday???Anyway if anyone can explain this mess ill be thankful. But seriously since around 1998 hes been 10!! 10!!

I will tell you. Ash is so weak because he leaves all of his GOOD Pokemon at home and goes out with a Pikachu that was taken down by a LV5 Snivy.

Yeah the Pokemon world is pretty messed up but I guess it's because Ash makes rash decisions at time and maybe Ash does have a birthday but they never mentioned it even once in the anime but as they say you got to go with the flow your not gonna understand everything.

Lv 100 Pikachu, Snivy uses tackle.
Pikachu loses 100000 HP. Pikachu fainted.
Ash fled.

This is the main reason I lost faith in the anime series...
I seriously hope they move on from ash to a new character.

What should happen too get rid of ash is they give him his season one strong Pokémon he becomes champion and the next character ends up battling him to end the entire series.

Ash was a great show of friendship and good sportsmanship, but he's really nothing more than a kid who got incredibly over his head. With the fact that the only thing he's ever won being the Orange League, and having lost EVERY other contest and tournament that he entered, and still having a "can-do" attitude about everything is what they want in a character.

The only reason he still really exists is because he's a good influence on kids. His "never give up, keep trying" idealism is what will push kids to never stop following their dreams. We don't necessarily need one of the last role model cartoon characters to die out because we need an edgy badass who always wins (but, I'm in favor of a Gary Oak spinoff), but to have that massive hope in yourself that despite failure, you can do it one day, and that's the perfect idea of what not enough people feel the enthusiasm to believe in.

I'm in full support of the coma theory, by the way. In which he was actually in a coma the whole time, and everybody in the show was just a figment of his imagination and he wakes up, where everything's tougher than in his dream, but he's ready for it.

With the age thing, tons of cartoons and anime live in a floating timeline, meaning that even though they're taking a long time to happen, the world is staying the same. Look at The Simpsons, Bart has been 10 since 1987. Batman was in his 30's since the 1940's.

An episode of Family Guy actually had two characters, Stewie and Brian, travel 13 years into the past, where they were all the same age. The only person to age on that show is Meg, who started out at 16 and is now 18. Things just slowly progress by choice.
