So, the current system we use makes you reply using RE: Topic.
Whenever the conversation gets long enough it eventually turns into :
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Topic.

This is quite annoying to me personally as sometimes the titles go off the screen.
This makes me open multiple messages to find the one I'm looking for.

The other problem would be all the block-quotes that gather up during the process.
This makes the message unnecessarily long.

So here is my suggestion.
PMs would work similar to a thread on the board but between two people.
This means instead of having multiple messages the topic would be all under one page.

This would save the constant RE: RE: RE: and the block-quotes taking space up.

I'm pretty sure the PM system already runs on separate numbering and what not. I wonder how it would have to change in order to remain private though. Changing the system would change how the security would need to function. Probably have to make it so that the sender and the receiver are the only authorized people who can view "thread".

I do like the idea though. Each PM between people would become it's own "thread".

I have to say I like this idea also,if it meant reducing the long series of RE indicators at the start of every replied message I'm all for it. It may also help fix the problem of PM's not appearing for people, that has gotten progressively bad in my case, I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Yeah sounds like a good idea. What I do when sometimes (rarely) is delete previous bockquotes as well as the number of "RE's" in my reply.

This seems like a waste of time. You can just edit out everything. There are plenty of other things that I think are more important.

I actually saw this idea on another forum and I did like it. I do plan to eventually redo the private message system and when I do, I'll probably be doing something like this.

I've got a few other ideas for a new PM system as well but it'll be a while before I have the chance to remake the entire system since that'll be a big job.
