Hey, I was just thinking something. For the Tour de Vizzed's Blue and Green Jerseys, I really think that posts in the Newbie Forum should be disabled. Basically all of the people in the contenders list are just saying "Welcome to Vizzed!" in every single thread in the forum so they can get a point towards the jersey without really spamming. In my opinion, this is pretty stupid and unfair to all the people trying to get the jersey fairly. So, I'm just requesting that posts in the newbie forum don't count.

I'm inclined to agree.

Unfortunately, the argument can be made that it's important to welcome newbies, and that will probably prevent the rules from changing.

At any rate, yeah, I agree, especially since a large portion of the time, people just copy and paste the same or similar messages.

I agree with this, but not really "all" posts in that forum, but it should be limited to the 20% of total posts like Crazy House and Polls/Questions.

The Newbie Forum shouldn't be "disabled", but if it was possible to downsize the count, or have it not count would be an idea, but I think it should just be limited to 20%. In fact, that's how the VCS works with the 20% Rule. I'm not sure why it's bumped to 35%, but it should be less loose. But alas, it's not my competition, it's David's.

Here's the easy way to do it:
You find out who is copy/pasting the newbie forum posts (except locals of the forum, because it is their job to do that [A job that I am terrible at]).
Then, the locals and globals can ignore the word count and DQ them from the jersey.  If we do our jobs, it gets quite simple.

We can apply the 35% rule to the newbie forum and drop the 35% down to 25%. If a user uses the same message over and over again, that's actually worthy of a temp ban, no matter what month it is, that's always against the rules.

I don't want to disable that forum from the competition though because we need to encourage users to welcome newbies. Newbies are more likely to stick around if they feel welcomed.

I think that you are right. People just have a normal welcome like, Welcome to Vizzed, have fun! I would mark that type of post as spam. The newbies say weather the like the board or the RGR so you can tell them good things about both.
