Dragonite would be a great Pokemon to have you can catch a dratini or dragonair then level it up to level 55 dragonite has high stats so he or she would be a great addition to your firered team.

iseeu44 : The team I used for Firered, requires some trading.
But I recommend trading for the baby Pokémon so you can raise them yourself and teach them moves that will be useful to you.

The team is
Charizard, (can be interchanged with Typhlosion)
Blastoise,
Venusaur, (can be interchanged with Exeggutor, just teach him the move psychic.)
Tyranitar, (can be obtained on one of the islands)
Golem, (Geodude can be obtained at Mt. Moon, but in order to get Golem you will need to trade your Graveler)
Dragonite. (I believe you can get Dratini from using a super rod somewhere)

My best fire red team would be this:
