Hey all, I felt lead to give some encouragement to those who are young in their age as a Christian. See, I recently finished college and I'm the "real world" if you might want to say that: trying to find opportunities and am working, so I don't know if I would even consider myself to be young anymore, but either way, just wanna write an encouragement to you.

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. " (1 Timothy 4:12)

Just because you are a young believer in Christ does not mean that you can't do God's will. It is a good reason if you lack certain skills or experience, but it is not a good reason if it is because you are young. Think of Samuel, David, Jesus, the young boy with the loaves and fishes, Timothy...God has used children and youth for His purposes and have not only become workers for the faith, but also examples for other believers, even the older ones. It is important to respect, listen, and learn from older and wiser believers, but you never know, they may be looking to you as an example in the faith.

A pastor that I respect talked about his father's story of continually sharing the gospel to a friend. When he finally got saved by God, he was an old man. He was saddened saying "I wasted my life. I wasted it." It is a sad thing to think that your life is wasted. He thought so because if he were to come to Christ earlier, he would have been able to do more for Christ and learn more about God. You who are young and redeemed, you still have a whole life ahead of you. Don't waste your life on meaningless things and focus on what is everlasting, to leave a legacy for Christ.

So again, don't think "I'm young, I can't do much." There are many opportunities for you. Seek them out and continue to be faithful and live a Christ-like example. Find ways to help in the church and as you grow, you learn more and you grow stronger and wiser as you run the good race of faith. You never know who you will inspire or teach just from you living for the Lord.

I really like what you wrote here.  I read it earlier while at work, where my connection was absolutely awful, so I was unable to post as much as I wanted to.  I actually have a few students which wear bands with that Timothy verse on it which I think is excellent.  Now if only some of them would apply it to their daily actions...

I think a lot of the younger believers are often discouraged because the world around them is so rough.  Like you though, I'd like to take a moment to encourage them.

To you young believers:  As Christians, we represent Christ and Christ's love.  If you have a relationship with Him, I imagine that you understand the kind of love and mercy He shares with us.  As hard as we might try, we could never show an equal amount.  However, it is no excuse for trying.  We should always be a shining light in the face of adversity, bringing the gospel to life through our words and actions.  Don't you want others to know Christ as you do?  If so, be diligent, be faithful, and have confidence that God will always be at your side.  Even when you think the world is against you for your faith, remember that God has already won and is victorious.  There will be a day when each of us can be witness to it, so why should be let the world defeat us?  We are on the winning side the moment we accept Christ, and nothing should deter us from partaking in that victory!

Walk every day as though you know what is in store for you.... because you should.  Are you not aware of what's in store for you?  Just ask and I can explain it better, and show you scripture.  God is a bountiful and amazing Father who has wonders laid up for those who love Him and have faith in Him.  Some day we will be blessed enough to witness God's awesomeness!

Take faith and forget your age.  With God, all things are possible!

NordicWarrior : Well, for one thing, I don't think you even understand the concept of prayer, so how would you be able to do something that you don't understand?

But if you really think that you have unanswered prayers, mind telling what would you consider to be unanswered?

it is very wonderful to see young christian's these days. It is a great blessing to truly except God earlier on in life, rather than wait years and change only through mistakes as do quite a few adults. Though I think it is really sad with the amount of young people I've seen who are falling away from the church. A lot of young people just aren't interested or brought up in poor situations to be interested in the Gospel of Christ. I read some study's quite some time ago talking about it, and even went over them in my youth group sometime earlier. I wish I could remember the study.
