Do you know who Dr Who is or do you just say who? as a response.

I hear he is big, but I can't stand it, to me it represents a disaster of what happened to a once great English franchise. I have seen old episodes (no comments please) and I liked them.

But the new ones with the new cast are terrible.

I was looking forward to Torch wood, with its darker more sinister promise and it was a complete let down.

I so much want to like Dr. who but I can't the acting is terrible, just terrible.

as a child it would scare me behind the old man's Lazy Boy, perhaps I need to be like that again full of awe and mystery. Even the theme tune spooked me as a kid, now its all washed out for me.

Can you tell me why I should like it?

I may not know Who he is, but I know that I really enjoy this entire show.

At first the new series seemed like a snooze with bad acting, but eventually I grew to enjoy it. The new series has a lot to offer in contrast to the old. The new show, at some points, leaves you at the edge. You just need to put the time in to learn to enjoy it, it's more or less an acquired taste.

Torchwood paled in comparison, I was having the same hopes you were about it, but it just failed to please.

I'm watching it right now, hooked. I loved the old series, especially the Peter Davison and Tom Baker seasons, they were excellent, but overall, I'm enjoying Matt Smith and David Tennant quite a bit, it really holds up to the old series, with a new style that stays relevant.

It may just be my age, but this new series is really good.

I think you need to give the show all your concentration for it to get good, this is because you need to second guess what is happening? What happens next? Who will die? How will he get out of this? You also have really touching moments which have brought me to tears once and that was and still is only the second time I have ever cried at a tv show/ movie.

My friend has spent a fortune trying to buy every episode from all 30 or whatever years the show has been on. Personally I think he is crazy, but he really likes the show.

I definitely enjoy watching Dr. Who. I mean I don't really think the newer ones are pretty brilliant. To add to the expanded imagination of the DW universe, I really like the writing of most of the episodes. Some memorable punchlines and fun interactions between the Doctor and the companions or the enemies. It's pretty fresh to me that I can watch it again and again. Definitely hold itself well as a show.

I just finished watching the latest episode, and I feel that this is definitely an example of the new style/modern take of Doctor Who, with the topic of wifi being made into a sci-fi conflict. But the interactions between clara and the Doctor makes me want more. The conflict might not be as grand as the previous episodes, but the ridiculousness like anti-gravity motorcycle and a taste of what we will see in Clara for the future episodes is what makes this episode a good episode.

My wife and I just watched the first episode of the latest series (2005?) and it was pretty average to me. The acting was pretty bad, the story was lame and the special effects were lacking.

However, I'm going to hope that it gets better as the series progresses. I've heard it's really good but the first episode wasn't a great indication.

geeogree : Yeah, that's how it started out for me, as well. I felt it was really boring, but seeing the fanbase, I thought it must've been pretty good as it goes on. I forced myself through the first season, and it was pretty good after the second or third season.
