I would probably go with a fire type. How about an orange lizard with a flame on his tail that can't go out or it'll die. I think I'd call it charmander...what's that? that's already a pokemon?..well now.

i would make a pokemon that is a grass and steel pokemon. it would mainly focus in special attack stats and joint second in stats is speed and defence. its pokedex entry would be something like: ____ is known as natures magnet. it will use mainly beam attacks like solar beam and flash cannon.

I would make a Ghost/Normal type.It would only have 1 weakness and Normal,Ghost,and Fighting type moves have no effect on it.I would call it Poltary.It would focus on Speed stats and unusually Sp.Attack stats.It would learn Normal,Ghost,Fighting and Grass type moves by both TM's and level-up.

I made some sprites a couple of years ago.
one sprite was made out of a combination of infernape, charizard, and giratina(orgin).
i used the wings and tail of charizard, body of infernape, and the head(2x) of giratina.
the wings and tail where used as wings and tails. the body was used for basic body. and the heads where used as hands.
the sprites i used where plasma pokemon (from pokemonlake)
it was my first sprite ever made. and i think it looks really awesome.
i wil post a link to it ( i'm sorry i know links are forbidden but i just dont know how to post pictures in this post system.)
