I don't mean brute force.I mean intelligence,strength,power etc.who would be the most powerful in a fight.

my guess is ironman.he is super intelligent.super rich.he is physically second strongest.can use missiles.lasers.what else does he need.

hulk is strong but he looses control as he gets strong

captain America can use his shield to protect one side.but what if he gets attacked from behind.

Thor is also strong.has super power to produce lightning like pikachu.he is not as intelligent as iron man.

The only one who can stop Hulk is Dr. Banner. Since he only gets stronger with the more adrenaline he gets, so he can keep fighting even after death (like some bears). In my opinion he's the strongest of them all.

I would say the Hulk.
He has the power and strength but at the same time he has a genius inside of him.
So if you look at it that way the hulk is a pretty good choice lol

I say Iron Man. I don't understand why these people keep on saying HULK and all, when you said no brute force. Anyways, Iron man is smart, durable, strong and has a cool design.

Hulk has the most brute stength, but I can't say he's the strongest. Not smart enough. I think the strongest is Iron Man. He's strong, has an awesome suit, and is smart.

The hulk is the strongest in terms of strength but he misses the strategy and ability to think.

Iron Man every time. Hulk might have power, but he isn't the smartest in a fight, Captain America can't fly, Thor might be really strong, but I could see someone taking him down easily. Iron Man has agility, brains (he was Sherlock Holmes XD), and power all in one.

I would say black widow because she also had he SS serum, he intelligence itnof a level that makes her just human and she is a master of: espionage, several , martial arts and marksman. Need I say anymore?

This is actually a tricky question.

I understand a lot of people saying hulk as well he is one of the strongest there is, even able to keep one hundred and fifty billion tons from flattening him when a mountain was dropped on him by molecule man. But the fact is he can't fly so that leaves him on the ground so iron man and Thor could choose to long range attack him.

Now black widow is skilled but the SS serum only puts her at captain America's level of strength at best so she definitely couldn't take out hulk or Thor.

Now iron man has the suit, the brains, flight, and explosive weapons yet I don't see him being able to stand against Thor in a serious one on one battle, from the first avengers Thor was able to crush iron man's armor rather quickly which shows that he could damage it with his bare hands. He can't use the lightning attack but that is not a big deal when he uses his hammer as I honestly think a solid hit from the hammer would split him open, Thor also has the flight capability so iron man couldn't just sit back and target him from a distance whenever he wanted.

All in all I would give the strongest avenger to Thor, he has strength, flight, a powerful weapon, and is able to summon lightning to strike his enemies.

The Hulk! He is amazing and could kick all of the other's butts.
