Recently I've noticed that some places carry egg nog year round, but some only carry it on the holidays.

I have a problem with that.

I have a massive hankering for egg nog, and none of my local stores still sell it.

I don't see Eggnog a lot in stores so I think they stop selling it in my neck of the woods.  Though I do know that a restaurant that sells an Eggnog milkshake only on the holidays.
