I want to know about people here on Vizzed who actually import japanese games.
For me,importing games from japan is necessary,i'm a game collector you know...I don't really like the fact of some games being japan-exclusive,but oh well. Some japanese games are really expensive, games, but they're worth all the trouble.
Games like Shaman King Spirit of Shaman,Super Robot Taisen OG Exceed,Kumatachi,Dengeki RPG Cross of Venus...i wonder,is it really so difficulty for them to translate the game and launch it here in America? It's not just a question of translation...it's also a question of copyright and whether or not said game would have any impact being launched in America and Europe.

You know, nowadays, companies only think about money...i guess i can't blame them, money is important. But having a great fanbase is also important. What if they made games, but no one bought them? It's hard to mantain a fanbase too...i guess you need to find a balance.

What about you guys and girls? Have any of you ever imported japanese games? And,if you haven't,are you interested in importing japanese games?

They rarely do this now, but during the 90's some games series were completely stopped being imported from Japan... which is one issue.
Another is some games are hard to localize for importation.

Games such as Metroid Over M's Localization was quite bad because of the failure of the fact of the speech.

I have to admit,Metoid Other M made Samus look like a slave, not being able to do stuff of her own free will...
And,you don't really need to understand japanese to play some japanese games. Personally,i didn't have any problem with japanese games...there is always a way to overcome the language barrier!

I am interested in Import games only if they are not too weird.
Take "Onechanbara Z" the Sequel to "Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad".
It is practically the japan version of "Lollipop Chainsaw". Only Japan had theirs first, And they have babes in bikinis with swords. The Protagonists are closer to Vampires than underground witches but that is beside the point.
Many good games still do not make it state side due to culture and social norm. What we consider a good game may not be considered adequate entertainment by whoever is in charge of the games we get. For all the wonderful gems that I cannot play I do accept it and move on. "Final Fantasy 5" was not released in the U.S. for many years till long after the Play-station 1 was out. (That is one of the few times I broke my personal rule about not buying 100+hour Games after High School Graduation.) Still It did get into the U.S.
Others on the other hand may not make it over. The stuff that gets blocked I can accept. There are a ton of ... "Morally questionable games" that do not make it in the U.S. (worse than grand theft auto) and while I would like to be the judge of what I find morale. Many others may be exposed to crap due to the fact that a parent will not have 20 to 60 hours to play through a game before their kid gets it. If all the parents played the games before their kids got a hold of them I would have no problem disbanding the organization that regulates what gets translated or not. That said I am interested but to a point.
I'd love to play the next Dragon Ball game.
I'd hate to see some kid getting a hold of something he is not ready for due to the deceptive cartoon cover of the characters on the box art.
Good Luck To All.
I'm Done. Stick a Fork in me.
Peace.

I've never really had strong enough interest in a game to bother with that, between region locking (on most systems) and not being able to read Japanese. I considered doing it when the announced No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise because the PS3 is region-free and it had an English language option, but then they released it in America, which I didn't expect. I still haven't gotten around to getting that, come to think of it. It's kind of hard to justify since it's just a remake of the original version which I already have, but I'm sure I will someday.
